A Deadpool and Wolverine A fan illustration is making the rounds on X as a suggestion for the film's ending; user @yamuoex drew What X-23 would have looked like wearing Logan's hood in the movie. Fans praised the concept with one user even asking for a Hawk Eye-spin-off TV series, with Logan (played by Hugh Jackman) taking X-23 (Dafne Keen) under his wing. The manga-style art has a comical appeal, depicting X-23 staring at Wolverine's cowl resting on a table. The final panel showed Logan and Wade Wilson peeking around the corner as X-23 puts on the mask to see if it fits. The fan art imagines what could have been a hilarious post-credits scene in Deadpool and Wolverinesuggesting that Logan has officially passed the baton to X-23.

Keen's return in Deadpool and Wolverine reignites the buzz about X-23's inclusion in the MCU. The actress previously said she'd reprise the same character that appeared in the 2017 film Loganwhich was released as a standalone installment by Marvel. The X-23 MCU crossover continues its story arc without spoiling Logancanon, and the new variant of Wolverine could serve as his mentor in future films. An X-23/Logan movie or TV series is begging to be greenlit now that Jackman has confirmed he's open to returning as Wolverine. The idea isn't too far-fetched with reports that the MCU is heading for a soft reboot after Avengers: Secret Warswith Marvel Studios rehashing key characters in subsequent films. X-23's return to the MCU hinted at the end of Deadpool and Wolverine

Director Shawn Levy has hinted that other longtime Fox Marvel characters will reappear in MCU installments. Stating that Deadpool and Wolverine wasn’t prepping for a sequel or spinoff, he also teased that the film’s ending created new paths for its characters’ storylines. “We see X-23 at the end. Logan chose to stay in Deadpool’s world,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “Laura being there at the last pizza party implies that others may have made it out of the Void. But as for what lies beyond, I honestly don’t know.” The illustrated fan art fits that scene perfectly in retrospect, offering an exciting tease of what’s to come next.

The events of Deadpool and Wolverine confirmed that several timelines have ceased to exist, presumably including the universes inhabited by Elektra (Jennifer Gardner) and Blade (Wesley Snipes). A scene in the final act hinted that the Time Variance Authority would rectify the discrepancies, which hopefully meant the characters would return to their restored timelines. Ryan Reynolds recently revealed what happened to Gambit (Channing Tatum), however; he survived the skirmish with Cassandra Nova's mercenaries and appeared to be plotting his escape from the Void. Reynolds also called for the standalone Gambit film to finally be made and released.

Deadpool and Wolverine is currently showing in theaters.
