What we do in the shadowsThe FX series about four vampires living in Staten Island will close its curtains with the upcoming sixth season. However, despite only a few episodes remaining, the series wants to honor its longtime fans and treat them with the best.
There remain many questions about the ending of What we do in the shadows Season 5, including what’s next for Guillermo’s journey of self-discovery, given his previous burning desire to become a vampire. While that will certainly be explored in the new season, executive producer Paul Simms teased things in response to a fan question via TVLine. That includes an old roommate waking up from a 50-year slumber and plenty of exciting guest stars.
Addressing his old vampire roommate, Simms explained that he was going to start asking the tough questions, some of which have been asked throughout the show's five seasons. “He says, 'Vampires are still secret, the public doesn't know anything about them, so why do you have a documentary crew following you around?'… So he asks a lot of questions that make them wonder what they did.”
He teased the audience that he would be able to enjoy “a lot of new guest stars” in What we do in the shadows Season 6. “If there's one thing we've kept it to ourselves, it's the guest stars for this season, because we wanted to use only our funniest and most beloved people.”
What We Do in the Shadows had many memorable guest stars
The words of the EP are emotional because, if there is something What we do in the shadows did very well were its guest stars. The show, which stars Harvey Guillen, Natasia Demetriou, Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak and Mark Proksch in the lead roles, has had many familiar faces over the seasons.
The mockumentary series featured several actors playing themselves, including Donal Logue, Wesley Snipes, Scott Bakula, Sofia Coppola, Jim Jarmusch, Thomas Mars, Patton Oswalt, and John Slattery. Additionally, Paul Reubens, Danny Trejo, Evan Rachel Wood, Tilda Swinton, and Taika Waititi all appeared in the star-studded episode “The Trial” as members of the Vampiric Council.
Benedict Wong also guest-starred on the series, playing a necromancer who helps them revive their family member, Topher, played by Haley Joel Osment, and both returned in the season five finale. Craig Robinson also appeared on the show as Claude, a novice vampire hunter in a secret society dedicated to hunting vampires. SNL star Vanessa Bayer played Evie, an emotional vampire, and appeared in seasons 1 and 5. She initially dated Colin Robinson, and then reunited with him when he wanted to run for the council in season 5. David Cross guest-starred as Dominykas, a member of the World Vampire Supreme Council. Other notable names included Dave Bautista as Garrett, Nick Kroll as Simon the Devious, Fred Armisen as Dr. Tom Schmidt, Mark Hamil as Jim the Vampire, and Doug Jones also had a recurring role as Baron Afanas, a member of the vampire royal family.
What we do in the shadows Season 6 will premiere on FX on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 10:00 PM ET/PT. It will be available to stream the following day on Hulu.
