Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been delayed again, this time to the first half of 2025.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been delayed once again, pushing the troubled RPG into the first half of 2025. Publishers Paradox Interactive and developers The Chinese Room say the delay will allow them to continue polishing the game, responding to feedback, and expanding its story.

Paradox announced the news in a video featuring Alex Skidmore, creative director of The Chinese Room, and Mattias Lilja, co-CEO of Paradox.

“Earlier this year, Paradox reaffirmed our commitment to delivering high-quality games to our players, and the launch update is a proactive decision made as a result of that commitment,” a statement accompanying the delay read. “While the game is in a good enough place that we can maintain our planned release window, Paradox and The Chinese Room have decided to prioritize polishing by collaborating.”

The announcement seems to have been made to reassure the public who expected the game to be in its final stages and just need to be “polished”; however, in this case, the polishing process seems to be limited to bug fixes, but also includes additional content, more story, more endings, diversified clan wars, and more.

Paradox has had a tough year, from the $22 million Lamplighters League fiasco, to the botched launch and rushed DLC of Cities Skylines 2, to the last-minute cancellation of Life By You, and the indefinite delay of Prison Architect 2.

These stumbles led Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester to admit that the company had made “wrong decisions” on several major projects and to report that profits were falling.

Bloodlines 2 hasn’t had a happier time of it. Originally slated for a 2020 release, the game’s creative lead was fired, it was stripped of its developers, and after a supposedly secretive development process, it resurfaced last year on The Chinese Room. It continues to look so stark in every trailer that any delay seems inevitable.
