Total War Warhammer 3 is getting new content this month, and a fix means goblins now disintegrate correctly

Back in June, strategy specialists Creative Assembly released a thick, chatty video discussing the next expansion for Total War: Warhammer 3 . Aside from a not-so-subtle hint that orcs, giants, and the Khorne horde would have at least one giant twist, it also ended with a hint of smaller pieces of new content coming with regular patches. According to the game's latest patch blog , we now have a better idea of when we'll start seeing some of these “smaller bits and pieces.” Pieces And parts? In this economy? Yes, and this month in fact. “Late August,” to quote the vague phrase.

I can't be sure if this is all a bluff to satisfy the masses (me) who have been carrying around orc pills all the way to the DLC. I think three out of five goblins have a chance of reaching the Weetabix on top of the fridge by balancing on each other's shoulders. Still, it seems important that they've brought it to attention, and there's a brand new blog post from design director Mitchell Heastie “in the coming weeks” discussing exactly what the new patch will include. You're not releasing Heast for nothing! Or maybe you are. To be honest, this is the first time I've come across his name.

Either way, we have a few patch notes to tide us over until then. There are a few dozen items on the list, but my attention was immediately drawn to the list of units that “do not show logs when dismantled.” Now, we can adequately cripple Nasty Skulkers, Amethyst Wizards, and a few others.

Legendary Red-Crested Skink Chieftain Lords now have the immortal skill – another classic Skink victory. Karl Franz can now ally with Balthasar Gelt. Fixed the “Herald of Slaanesh's leg would spin strangely during idle animation while on a horse” bug, thank goodness. There are a bunch more, most specific to certain units, and I'm sure they'll all make at least one person very happy.

As for the next DLC, a release date is still up in the air, but it seems extremely possible we could see something before the year is out. Creative Assembly recently reaffirmed their commitment to Total War after a disastrous series run. Since then, we’ve seen a major free update to Total War: Pharaoh , and even rumors of a Total War: Star Wars . Back in June, a former developer released a lengthy personal statement alleging a culture of mismanagement at the studio.

Oh, and before I forget: A few of you asked me to write something for those who want to get started with Total War: Warhammer but understandably don't know where to start. It seemed like a good idea to me, so I went ahead and wrote a massive guide covering everything from gameplay to purchasing DLC. I hope it helps! Also: please don't play this game. It'll ruin you.
