The following contains major spoilers for The X-Men #3, on sale August 28 at Marvel Comics.
Magneto has finally found a new protégé as the X-Men rise from the ashes of the Krakoan era.
While the other members of the eponymous team of The X-Men #3 are busy exploring the mystery of their newest recruit while navigating the politics of a small town, Magneto has taken it upon himself to keep watch over the frozen wilderness. Unsurprisingly, Magneto isn't alone, though he didn't expect Temper to be the one to join him. As it turns out, the two have more in common than their mutant status, and Temper's icy demeanor coupled with her violent past may make her the perfect choice for Magneto's next protégé.

Idie Okonkwo, better known as Temper, made her Marvel Comics debut in the pages of 2010 The Mysterious X-Men #528 by writer Matt Fraction and artist Whilce Portacio. As a young teenager, Idie's powers activated without warning in the middle of Oyo City, a surprising development at the time. As one of the first five mutants to develop powers after M-Day and the Decimation, Idie was of crucial importance to all mutantkind. She was also targeted by an anti-mutant paramilitary group, who were repelled by Storm.
In addition to Idie's importance as one of the Five Lights, she was the linchpin of Marvel X-Men: Schism event in 2011. During a meeting with the then-reformed Hellfire Club, Idie found herself caught in the crossfire. While Wolverine hoped she would heed his warnings and lie low until the dust settled, Cyclops pressured her to use her powers to end the threat right then and there. Temper ultimately decided to follow his instructions, incinerating several Hellfire Club agents and leading to a deep rift between Cyclops and Wolverine over what the true mission of the X-Men should be in regards to treating children as cold-blooded soldiers.
The current The X-Men run is just one of nearly a dozen new titles all tied to Marvel From the ashes event. After the end of the Krakoan era, several X-Teams appeared in their own team-up titles, including Factor X by Mark Russell and Bob Quinn, The Mysterious X-Men by Gail Simone and David Marquez, Force X by Geoffrey Thorne and Marcus To, and New York by Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly and Francesco Mortarino. Meanwhile, individual characters like Jean Grey have found a home for themselves in eponymous series like Phoenix by writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Alessandro Miracolo, as well as upcoming titles such as Glutton, DazzlingAND Mystic.
