The fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy has finally landed on Netflix. For many viewers, the show failed to land, as the series set two new negative ratings records.
On the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, The Umbrella Academy Season 4 currently has a terrible score of 58% on the Tomatometer. It's the lowest approval rating of any season of the Netflix series, significantly below the scores of Season 1 (77%), Season 2 (91%), and Season 3 (91%). On the bright side, the current rating is two points away from rising from its terrible state to being considered “fresh” on the website, so a few more positive reviews could bring the series back into the green with its final batch of episodes.

“A finale we're all proud of”: Umbrella Academy stars promise a satisfying final season
The cast of The Umbrella Academy promises a satisfying finale to the series, with a resolution that ties up any remaining loose ends.
Feeling that the final season was too rushed to wrap up the story in a satisfying way, Elliott Collins of Movie Files said in a review, “The 6-episode format was the worst decision we made this season. The character arcs were rushed and forced. The stakes were never there because we didn't have time to sit and breathe in the scenes. The charm that once was is nonexistent this season!”
The charm of the past is no longer there in this season!
“A few flaws don't spoil the bittersweet conclusion,” reads another, more positive review from CBR's Katie Doll. The review stated, “Season 4 intentionally follows similar beats to the first season to create a nostalgic feel, while the dysfunctional dynamics and course-correcting finale end the series on a charming note.”

The Umbrella Academy Gets New Lowest Audience Rating
While critics' reviews are very mixed, audiences are less kind to the final season of The Umbrella AcademySeason 4 has an audience rating of 25%far lower than the scores obtained by Season 1 (85%), Season 2 (88%), and Season 3 (55%). Some audience reviews also pointed out how the shortened final season felt rushed, while others complained about how much less fun they had in season four than they had in season one.
“It feels very rushed, ultimately it feels like an AI was ordered to finish the show,” one audience reviewer noted. “If you want to watch the finale, be prepared for random filler scenes that don't add much and a somewhat sad ending.”
Someone else said, “What can I say? This show was so good for the first two seasons. Season 3 was really good too, but Allison's scene where she says Luther is disgusting. But that doesn't compare to the absolutely terrible writing in season 4. Season 4 goes out of its way to really ruin every single character, has so many plot holes, and ruins the rest of the show for everyone.”
