Another week, another article about the best PlayStation 4 emulator for PC. Last month we informed you that Red Dead Redemption Remastered runs at around 25 frames per second on a high-end PC system. And today we're happy to report that the game can run at a consistent 30 frames per second.
YouTuber “BrutalSam” shared the following video showing RDR Remastered running at a consistent 30 fps. To achieve this performance, the YouTuber used an Intel Core i5 13400 with 32 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060.
shadPS4 also offers an option to unlock the game's framerate. However, this experimental setting is currently buggy. Instead of doubling the framerate, it doubles the speed of the game. The good news is that the developers of shadPS4 are working on fixing this.
As you'll see in the video, RDR Remastered has significant visual artifacts. In short, it's nowhere near playable. Still, the fact that the game can now run at 30 frames per second is mind-blowing.
And that's not all. Remember Tomb Raider I-III Remastered? Well, that collection can now run at 110 fps.
shadPS4 came out of nowhere and has outperformed the competition. The other six PlayStation 4 emulators (psOff, fpPS4, Spine, RPCSX, Kyty and GPCS4) are far behind shadPS4. So if there is a PS4 emulator that will one day allow PC gamers to play Bloodborne, it is definitely shadPS4.
Although the emulator is making great progress in a matter of months (or even weeks), it won't be able to run Bloodborne at 30 frames per second until the end of 2024. But if things continue like this, we could be able to enjoy the game by the end of 2025.
Have fun and stay tuned for more!
