The next-gen mod revamps its combat with better animations, better aiming and new dodging mechanics

The Witcher 3 fans, here's something for you today. Modder “Riyusso” has released a new gameplay mod for TW3: Next-Gen that aims to revamp combat with better animations, better aiming, and new dodging mechanics. This is a must-have for anyone looking to improve the game's combat system. So let's take a closer look.

Blood And Steel brings more attack variety and fewer spinning animations. Attacks will now be more dynamic and based on the situation and enemy type, number of enemies, distance and direction. As the modder noted, the goal was to make combat more fluid while staying close to the original style.

Then we have the new dodge mechanic. As you hold the block, new dodge animations are unlocked. This includes flanking, dodging enemy projectiles and some pirouettes. For example, if you hold Block and press Dodge + Right, you perform a side dodge to the right. Or if you hold Dodge + Forward + Right, you can “Flank” dodge forward and right.

The modder has also added a smart system that makes your character perform a rolling attack when they need to dodge an enemy's attack or move between enemies to complete an objective. Additionally, the animations when exiting combat will look smoother. In addition, the combat camera has been slightly changed to improve the feel of combat. It's also less likely that you accidentally aim at something off-screen or that the target changes unexpectedly.

All in all, this is a great gameplay mod that will completely change the way you experience CDPR roleplaying. If you are interested, you can download it from this link. At the end of the article you will also find a showcase video.

Speaking of The Witcher 3 Next-Gen, you might also want to check out these other mods for it. For example, you can download a really cool first-person mod. Additionally, the Characters Reworked Project improves the quality of over 100 characters. Let's also not forget about this mod that allows you to kill most of the NPCs in the game. Earlier this month we also shared mods that restored boat racing and added 15 new quests. A modder also restored the reputation system that CDPR removed from the game.

In December 2023, we shared this mod that restores content removed from all previous The Witcher games. Then, in February 2024, we shared a mod that attempted to remove the fake “Hero” light from the game’s cutscenes. There is also this mod that allows you to explore part of the world from the first The Witcher game in TW3. Oh, and don't forget this mod that lets you ride a Griffin.

We also have some mods for those who play with ray tracing. The RTX Mirrors Mod adds proper reflections to the game's mirrors. Then we have this mod that improves the fire effects via Ray Tracing Global Illumination. And finally, this mod fixes the Ray Tracing Bleach issues.

Have fun and stay tuned for more!
