Final Fantasy 16 has just been released on PC and the first must-have mod is now available to download. This mod brings major improvements to the game, so be sure to take advantage of it.
FFXVI Fix removes the 30 FPS cap during cutscenes and photo mode. This means you can get smoother and higher frame rates. It also allows you to use frame generation during cutscenes. This makes the in-game cutscenes run better and look much smoother.
In addition, the mod allows you to adjust the game's field of view. Final Fantasy XVI is a third-person game, so you would expect it to have a field of view slider. Unfortunately, that's not the case. So, thanks to this mod, you can change the field of view value as you wish.
Another feature missing from FF16 is support for ultrawide monitors. And again. This mod adds full support for them. It also removes pillarboxing/letterboxing in borderless/fullscreen mode and fixes HUD scaling with configurable HUD size.
You can download the mod from this link. If you haven't purchased the game, you can use the mod for the PC demo as it is compatible with that as well.
Our Final Fantasy 16 PC performance analysis will be released later this week, but until then, check out our Native 4K vs. DLSS 3 vs. FSR 3.0 benchmarks.
As I've reported, FFXVI is quite demanding at native 4K resolution. However, with DLSS 3, you can make the game run smoothly. I know some people hate this technology. And no, the developers should rely on it to achieve higher frame rates. So until we see performance improvements, you should use it.
Let's also not forget that DLSS 3 does a better job of eliminating jaggies. Even DLSS 3's Quality mode offers better AA than Native 4K, so if you stick with Native 4K, you'll get a worse picture. Ironic, right?
Have fun!
