Kevin Conroy's final performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman is coming to Max. The Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service has revealed when Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part 3 will begin streaming on the platform.
Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three will debut on Max on October 21, 2024, about three months after its release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and Digital. Based on the 12-issue 1980s limited comic book series of the same name by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, the synopsis for the third and final installment of the animated series Crisis on Infinite Earths the film trilogy reads as follows: “Now fully revealed as the ultimate threat to all existence, the ANTI-MONITOR launches an all-out attack on the surviving Earths struggling for survival in a miniature universe. One by one, these worlds and all their inhabitants are vaporized! On the remaining planets, even time itself is shattered, and heroes from the past unite with the Justice League and their disparate allies against the epitome of evil. But as they make their final stand, will the sacrifice of these Super Heroes be enough to save us all?
Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part 3 is notable for featuring Conroy's final performance as Batman, having completed recording his rematch as the DC Animated Universe's Dark Knight before his death in 2022. In the brief scene set in the DCAU, Conroy's Batman is joined by Batman: The Animated Series' Joker, once again voiced by Mark Hamill, with the two facing off one last time before their universe comes to an end. It's a fitting end for Conroy, who began his tenure as the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman: The Animated Seriesoriginally aired on Fox Kids between 1992 and 1995.
Conroy went on to voice Batman in multiple DCAU projects, including but not limited to Batman Beyond (1999-2001) and Justice League (2001-2004). He also voiced the Dark Knight in three of the four Batman: Arkham games. In total, Conroy played the Caped Crusader in over 60 different DC projects, longer than any other actor to ever take on the role. He was also the first voice actor to use distinctive voices for Bruce Wayne and Batman.
Who else is in the voice cast of Crisis on Infinite Earths?
Next to Conroy, Third part features several returning DC voice actors, including Tomorrowverse alums Darren Criss as Superman and Earth-2 Superman; Stana Katic as Wonder Woman and Superwoman; Jensen Ackles as Batman; Matt Bomer as The Flash; Jimmi Simpson as Green Arrow; Ike Amadi as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter, Amazing Man, and Ivo; Meg Donnelly as Supergirl and Harbinger; and Aldis Hodge as John Stewart/Green Lantern and Power Ring. The voice cast also includes Alexandra Daddario, Nolan North, Jennifer Hale, Matt Ryan, Troy Baker, Brett Dalton, and Kate Sackhoff, among others.
Crisis on Infinite Earths Not Connected to New DC Universe
While the original Crisis on Infinite Earths rebooted the DC Comics Multiverse into a single shared universe, the animated film trilogy was a standalone project not tied to any other films or series outside of the Tomorrowverse. Some fans wondered at the time if Crisis would have helped James Gunn bring together the various DC films and television series into one universe; however, the co-CEO of DC Studios revealed in January 2024 that it was purely a coincidence that the Crisis on Infinite Earths The adaptation came out the same year the new DC Universe began.
