Now there's a pleasant surprise. Earlier this year, Ubisoft faced heavy criticism when it shut down the servers for The Crew. And today, the French company announced that it will add official offline modes to both The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest.
Ubisoft hasn't revealed when we'll get this offline mode, but it's still good news for pretty much everyone. After all, you'll still be able to play both games even if Ubi shuts down its servers.
Ubisoft is also offering both games at great discounts. The Crew Motorfest is available at 70% off, while The Crew 2 is available at 98% off. That means you can get it for $1. That's a really great deal.
Although I didn't have much fun with The Crew 2, I really enjoyed The Crew Motorfest. The Crew Motorfest is one of the best Forza Horizon clones. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel. Still, it was an entertaining game.
It's also worth noting that The Crew Motorfest runs pretty well on PC. The game doesn't require a high-end CPU and has reasonable GPU requirements. My biggest gripe was perhaps the somehow low LOD. Even at maximum settings, there are a lot of pop-in issues. That and the lack of some PC-specific features like DLSS/FSR and ray tracing.
In conclusion, it's good to see Ubisoft taking some consumer-friendly steps. One of the biggest issues gamers have with GaaS titles is the online requirement, so let's hope other developers follow suit.
Stay tuned for more!
