KRAFTON is currently giving away The Callisto Protocol for free on the Epic Games Store for a limited time. From August 22nd to August 29th, PC players can visit the game's EGS page and claim their free copy.
The Callisto Protocol is a third-person action-adventure game with survival horror elements. In this game, you'll face off against terrifying, rapidly morphing creatures using weapons and melee combat. You can also find and collect items to unlock new weapons and equipment to help you escape the dangers on Jupiter's dead moon.
The Callisto Protocol was built using Unreal Engine 4 and was one of the best looking games of 2022. It still looks great today. However, when it first came out, there were some annoying stutters with shader compilation. The developers fixed them, but there are still some issues with the game's execution, especially with ray tracing. However, as we've noticed, the game runs better in its latest version. Also, there are fewer stutters when running through it.
Even though The Callisto Protocol wasn't as good as Dead Space, I still really enjoyed it. I honestly don't think it's a bad game. It just couldn't live up to the original Dead Space. Plus, it came out at the same time as the Dead Space remake, which meant it had a lot of competition.
Striking Distance Studios has supported the game with some cool free updates. In January 2023, we got a New Game+ mode. Then in February 2023, the developers added a Hardcore mode. And finally, in April 2023, the game got a Dismemberment mode.
It is also worth noting that KRAFTON removed the Denuvo tamper protection technology in March 2024, so that is another cool thing to keep in mind.
