The Batman Returns to Theaters Ahead of HBO's The Penguin Debut

Warner Bros. Pictures is bringing The Batman back in select theaters for a special one-night event to commemorate the upcoming HBO original series The Penguin. On Wednesday, August 28, moviegoers in the United States will be able to have the chance to relive Gotham City as it was reimagined with Robert Pattinson as BatmanOn that date or shortly before, the film will return to theaters around the world.

Preview screenings will be added to a special behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film The Penguinincluding a Q&A with series star Colin Farrell and the key creators, including executive producers Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark, Lauren LeFranc, who also serves as showrunner, and Craig Zobel, who directed the first three episodes.

Jeff Goldstein, President of Domestic Distribution, and Andrew Cripps, President of International Distribution for Warner Bros. Pictures, expressed excitement about the event. The Batman has been a smash hit since its theatrical release in 2022, grossing over $772 million at the box office. This special screening is a chance for fans to relive the film on the big screen once again before the new series begins.

An eight-episode limited series from Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, The Penguin will bow on October 19, 2024. It will air on HBO and stream on Max. It starts right where the action ended in The Batman, focusing this time on the character of Oz, aka The Penguin, played by Colin Farrell.

In addition to the screening, attendees will receive a mini-poster featuring exclusive new artwork, while supplies last. The event is presented in partnership with AMC and Dolby, with the film appearing in Dolby Cinema at AMC locations across the U.S. and in Dolby Cinema and Dolby Atmos internationally in the U.K., France, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, and South Korea.
