Destiny creators Bungie lay off 220 people and create new studio within Sony to avoid financial collapse

Destiny and Marathon developers Bungie are laying off 220 people, equivalent to about 17% of its workforce, as studio heads try to make up for a financial crisis brought on by an “overly ambitious” expansion, individual project “inconsistencies,” and the broader economic downturn in 2023.
