Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star Anson Mount discusses a possible reimagining of his iconic character’s tragic fate.
According to ScreenRant, Mount spoke about the possibility of a retcon return during a Q&A with fellow stars Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Celia Rose Gooding, Carol Kane, and Melanie Scrofano. When asked about the future of his character, Captain Christopher Pike, on the series, Mount was very cautious, noting, “I must preface this by saying that what we think doesn't really matter. It’s not our field. It’s not our department.” Mount added, “But I have to say, we haven’t been too specific with ourselves about where we are in that particular timeline.”
Mount continued, “We're also not specific about how long a season is in fictional time. So there's a lot of give and take. So depending on what the network wants, which we're just finding out year after year, as a project, on my own… I have much more specific ideas about that, but I don't want to say anything about that. But overall, I think I'd like to stick to the canon, and just, maybe, from a different point of view.. Maybe from Pike's point of view. So that's all I'll say about it.”
I have much more specific ideas about this, but I don't want to say anything.
