Grunn is a self-described “hyper-normal gardening game” where you tend to a garden, explore alternate realities, and try not to die. We've been excited to get our hands on its scissors for a while now, partly thanks to an excellent demo, and partly thanks to the fact that it's from Sokpop Collective member and Bernband developer Tom van den Boogaart.
Now the release date is clear: October 4th.
“I usually avoid writing easily quotable sentences on a Steam page, but the extremely satisfying sound Grunn's garden shears makes is an exception,” Nic wrote about the Grunn demo. “Please feel free to try any of these: Grunn's shears are the Wilhelm Scream of gardening equipment, sure to be referenced for decades to come. Grunn's shears slithered past my eyes and into parts of my brain I'd previously assumed could only be accessed by subtle ASMR or irresponsibly long Q-tips. I used to be anxious, but now my only fear in life is Grunn's lawn growing, so I no longer have a reason to click his shears.”
If you've never played it, Bernband is still a treat. It's a first-person game about exploring a strange, alien city with no purpose other than the tourism we celebrated in 2014. Alice O, the best of us all, was particularly impressed by it.
Grunn seems to have some of that same energy in his village, full of strange, silent people living their lives. The Grunn demo is also available to play on the Steam page . It's set to release on October 4th.
