Scyla Anfingrimm, Skarr Bloodwrath and other cool guys are coming to Total War Warhammer 3

Death and taxes remain constant, the sun rises and sets every day, and I must write every bit of Total War: Warhammer 3 news until the end of time. No one's forcing me, I might add. I can't help myself. Every addition brings us one step closer to getting an official Clan Skurvy. Creative Assembly has released a new video giving more details about what to expect from the strategy game's next DLC. Here's a recap of the last one to get you up to speed before you start seething like Bugman's. That was a Warhammer reference! From Warhammer!

First, the team detailed the unique campaign mechanics for each of the three upcoming legendary lords. For the orc Gorbad, that's “Da Plan.” Lead designer Sean Macdonald describes it as “Gorbad experimenting with what different units he can put together in the squad.” The example he gives is “send a couple of goblins in front of the archers and they can take the arrows. And that means you have a way to replenish your ammunition during combat.” To me, this sounds like the various campaign and combat buffs you'll get as you climb higher up the military chain, but we'll see.

Ogre Golfag Maneater is all about contracts. “We're trying to create a group that plays like mercenaries for the first time in Warhammer III,” says Macdonald. You'll take contracts from groups to fight other groups, but it doesn't appear that this will affect your personal diplomatic relationship with the target group. “We've created a new experience where he travels around the world, taking on jobs and beating up anyone he wants.”

For Khorne's Skulltaker, it's… taking skulls, as it should be. “The whole idea of the feature is, you know, finding powerful characters, defeating them, taking some of their power, and making yourself even stronger so that you can become the ultimate champion of Khorne,” Macdonald explains.

As for new units, the team is talking about a generic wild orc shaman, Yhetees for the ogres, and two legendary heroes for Khorne: Scyla Anfingrimm and Skarr Bloodwrath. Elsewhere, there's talk of changes for Kislev and Bretonnia, new magic items, and a new Chaos Invasion endgame event. Game Director Rich Aldrige also hints at more weapon variety for some units, ala kids. And that's all Warhammer is fit to shout “Warhammer” for now. See you in the next Warhammer. Warhammer.
