The Rotten Tomatoes score for Alien: Romulus has been revealed. It's good news for the franchise, which has struggled with critics over the past four decades.
At the moment, Alien: Romulus It is certified fresh with an approval index of 83%. This is the third highest score in the franchise, behind the original Alien soundtrack of the movie 93% AND Aliens' score of 94%Opening with a higher score than each subsequent sequel is a sign that the franchise is back on track, and positive reviews could help Romulus get an even better opening weekend. The film is currently tracking for an opening around $75 million globally.

Fede Álvarez posts a video explaining in detail how the Xenomorph was practically assembled in Alien: Romulus and how realistic its movements are.

While critics continue to praise the original two films as the best of the franchise, being named third is still notable for Alien: Romulus. There are six other films that were made after Aliens which leads up to Romuluswith the latter scoring higher than all the others. This includes 1992 Alien 3 (45%), 1997 Alien: Resurrection (56%), 2004 Alien vs. Predator (22%), 2007 Alien vs. Predator: Requiem (12%), 2012 Prometheus (73%) and 2017 Alien: Pact (65%).
Fede Álvarez directed Alien: Romulus
Alien: Romulus was directed by Fede Álvarez, who co-wrote the screenplay with Rodo Sayagues. Original Alien Director Ridley Scott produced with Michael Pruss and Walter Hill. The film stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu.
The official synopsis for Alien: Romulus reads: “The sci-fi/horror thriller takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its roots: While exploring the depths of an abandoned space station, a group of young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
Alien: Romulus will officially be released in theaters on August 16, 2024.
