RoadCraft is a heavy construction simulation from the makers of MudRunner

Announced at this year's Geoffcom, RoadCraft is a new game courtesy of the vehicle guys behind MudRunner and SnowRunner. That means it's a simulation game where you battle it out on the terrain with tires, but this time you're not just driving around, you're also managing a fleet of machines to carry out heavy construction work. Think a mix of logistics, cars, cranes, and laying beautiful new roads out of what was once a dilapidated scrap heap.

RoadCraft aims to address Sabre’s expertise in difficult terrain and how vehicles respond to it by turning it into more of a management simulation. That means it’s all about bouncing back and forth between your vehicles to turn chaos into something beautiful. You’ll take control of bulldozers to clear clogged roads, use transporters to pull vehicles out of tight spots, and use cranes to lift chunks and pieces with extreme precision. I’m particularly fond of the idea of “spreading hot asphalt using your paving stone” and then smoothing it out with a roller. It’s impossible not to think that this isn’t the most satisfying thing in video games.

And since it’s construction-based, you’ll be harvesting resources like sand, wood, or tar to make the terrain suitable for your iron fleet. “Supply factories and sand pits to ensure the continuous production of resources needed for roads and bridges,” the press release says. You’ll notice it in the trailer too, but you’ll also need to plot routes on a map to keep your vehicles out of each other’s way. This suggests there’s an element of automation on the resource-gathering side, as well as direct control of the vehicles. Only time will tell if you’ll be able to get in the driver’s seat any vehicle, or is it dedicated to something more specific.

The game is expected to be released in 2025 and you can find it on Steam.
