Rick and Morty is a series that continues to stand the test of time with a series of seasons that, for better or worse, are distinct.

While the footage shows Lloyd as Rick, the voice used is a recreation of how the character sounds in the animated series. The character of Rick was originally voiced by co-creator Justin Roiland, who is no longer involved with the show. Ian Cardoni has since taken over the role of Rick. In the trailer, Martell is also imagined as Evil Morty, serving as a nod to the variations of the main characters often encountered in the series. There is also a brief appearance of Pickle Rick in the trailer, a nod to one of the most popular episodes of the animated show.

An all-star cast has been imagined for the live-action adaptation of Rick and Morty

Other cast members imagined in the trailer include Sophie Turner (game of Thrones) as Summer Smith, Ed Helms (The office) as Jerry Smith, Elizabeth Banks (Skin care) as Beth Smith, Hugh Jackman (Deadpool and Wolverine) as Birdperson, Ana De Armas (Ballerina) as Tammy Gueterman, Denzel Washington (Gladiator II) like the President, Zendaya (Dune: Part Two) as Jessica, Craig Robinson (The office) like Mr. Goldenfold, Steve Buscemi (The Reservoir Dogs) as Mr. Poopybutthole, Jack Black (A Minecraft Movie) as Squanchy, Margot Robbie (Barbie) like Unity and Jim Carrey (Sonic the Hedgehog 3) like Mr. Meeseeks.

In reference to this Rick and Morty could have a Back to the Future crossover at one point, Lloyd told The Illuminerdi in 2021, “They called me [for the live-action promo]and I agreed. We'll see where it goes. I think it's a great idea… I thought maybe if Rick and Morty are out in space somewhere and accidentally, Doc and Marty are out there, and they can somehow meet. That could be a cool story. Where does it go from there? You know, because I think those four characters would be fun to watch. Great writing.”

Rick and Morty is currently streaming on Max.
