Jason Voorhees will soon resurface in Crystal Lake. The fourth installment in the film series about the masked killer, Friday the 13th: Final Chapterreturns to theaters to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the slasher sequel.
For Fangoria and Paramount Scares, Friday the 13th: Final Chapter will return to select theaters for a limited time September 10th AND September 15thAdditionally, special screenings will be held on September 13thwhich just so happens to be a Friday the 13th. The return to theaters will give horror fans a chance to see the sequel on the big screen if they've never done so before, allowing viewers to rewatch the sequel they first saw when it hit theaters on April 13, 1984, which, of course, fell on a Friday.
Joseph Zito (The Marauder) direct Friday the 13th: Final Chapterwhich serves as the fourth installment in the horror film series. It is the first film in the franchise to introduce the character of Tommy Jarvis, originally played by Corey Feldman before the role was recast in the two subsequent sequels. Memorable, Back to the Future star Crispin Glover also appears as a victim whose search for a corkscrew is abruptly interrupted by Jason Voorhees.
The final chapter wasn't even halfway through the franchise
There are 12 episodes of the Friday the 13th series of films, which retroactively realize The final chapterThe title is far from accurate. At the time of production, however, the plan was to kill Jason, which culminated in Feldman's Tommy Jarvis killing the killer at the end. The next film, A new beginningcontinued without Jason, having a copycat killer don the mask and carry out his killing spree, influenced by the atrocities that had occurred years earlier at Crystal Lake. The franchise would later go all-in on its supernatural elements by resurrecting Jason from the dead in the sixth film, Jason livestransforming the character into a nearly unstoppable zombie.
Until Kane Hodder began his run as Jason starting with the seventh film, The new bloodthe character has been played by different actors in each film. In The final chapterwas played by veteran actor and stuntman Ted White. Along with White, Feldman, and Glover, the film also starred Kimberly Beck, E. Erich Anderson, Barbara Howard, Peter Barton, Judie Aronson, Bruce Mahler, Bonnie Helllman, and twins Camilla and Carey More.
The official synopsis for the sequel reads: “After being pronounced dead and taken to the morgue, Jason Voorhees spontaneously reanimates, escapes the hospital, and begins stalking a group of friends who rent a house in the countryside near Crystal Lake.”
