Nami’s 20 Best Outfits In One Piece, Ranked

The Straw Hat Pirates constantly travel to new locations in One Piece. While visiting these different areas, they often sport new outfits that represent the overall tone of their respective arcs. Although characters like Monkey D. Luffy and Roronoa Zoro often receive the most fanfare regarding their costume changes, another member of the Straw Hats has enjoyed more outfit swaps than any of their peers — Nami the navigator.

Since the early days of One Piece, the orange-haired navigator has cycled through clothes on a regular basis, leaving her with an extensive list of high-quality outfits to sort through. Almost all of them help bring her character to life, but in particular, a few are in a league of their own. After all, Nami tends to go clothes shopping every time the Straw Hat crew arrives on a new island, and it has paid off with a delightful wardrobe that keeps Nami looking fresh.

Updated on September 16, 2024, by Natasha Elder: Nami is one of the first characters seen in the One Piece anime, and immediately makes an impression as a mysterious thief. As the series continues, she consistently makes an impact through the variety of her outfits, each of which either fit the theme of the island or reveal something about her character, or do both. We wanted to highlight more of Nami’s most fashionable choices, as well as expand on what makes them so special.

20 Nami’s Egghead Island Outfit is a Cute Pastel Pink

The Matching Headphones Make it Stand Out

Given the low-tech nature of One Piece, arriving in Egghead was quite a shock. There were holographic behemoths fighting in an epic battle, and seemingly limitless food accessible through a vending machine. Even the clothing proved to be singular, as the shoes allow the wearer to fly, or can be stuck to the floor at the whim of Vegapunk and his satellites. Nami, as with the rest of the Straw Hats, is eventually clothed in the fashion of the island.

  • Nami’s original outfit for Egghead was different, as revealed by sketches Oda had done prior to the arc’s finalization.

While the pastel pink Egghead suit that she ends up with is one of the more unique style designs, it lacks the flair that many of Nami’s other outfits hold, which is why it is ranked last on this list. However, it is worth acknowledging the interesting headphones that are included in the outfit, as they are as functional as they are fashionable, allowing users to speak to each other from a distance.

19 Nami’s Return To Sabaody Outfit Is Simple But Charming

She Returned with a New Hairstyle in Addition to New Clothes

Nami is having a few drinks while sporting her outfit from the Return to Sabaody arc in One Piece.

The One Piece anime launched a time skip after the Summit War saga, with the Straw Hats reuniting at the Sabaody Archipelago after some time part. Some of them returned with all-new outfits and features, such as Franky’s customizable hair and enhanced cyborg body. Nami, being the fashion-conscious lady she is, returned with another new outfit to dazzle One Piece fans.

  • The first person Nami sees upon returning to Sabaody Archipelago is Usopp.

Prior to the time skip, the former cat burglar always sported a short-haired look that leaned into her youthful appearance. Upon returning to Sabaody, she dazzled with her grown-out locks, which were complemented by a green top and low-riding jeans that emphasized her adult physique. It’s a rather basic look that ranks low among Nami’s best outfits, but fans still like it, and it has a simple charm to it, too.

18 Nami’s Sabaody Archipelago Outfit Features a Flowered Shirt

The Understated Look Fits with the Vacation-Like Tone of the Island

Nami is consulting her Log Pose during One Piece's Sabaody arc.

Although the Grand Line is full of surreal locations, few are as visually dazzling as Sabaody Archipelago. The final island of Paradise (the first half of the Grand Line) is brimming with massive mangrove trees and beautiful bubbles, making it the perfect setting for one of Nami’s prettiest outfits. The flowery design fits in well with the laidback tone of Sabaody after the hectic adventure the Straw Hats faced at Thriller Bark.

  • Nami encounters Hatchan, one of Arlong’s trusted crewmates, during the Sabaody Archipelago arc. Despite her understandable animosity, she slowly comes to terms with his change of heart.

Compared to much of Nami’s wardrobe, the orange, flower-patterned shirt she dons during the Sabaody Archipelago arc is fairly understated. However, it’s a perfect fit for the dreamy tone of the island, before everything goes wrong, and since this arc is Nami’s last full arc before One Piece‘s timeskip, her outfit serves well as a proper send-off into the New World.

17 Nami’s Outfit is Understated and Elegant in Strong World

The Dark Simplicity Reinforces the Coldness She Feels Towards Shiku

Nami is wearing a black dress and pink boa in One Piece Film: Strong World.

Despite experiencing one of the worst moments of her life, Nami still manages to look elegant when she is forced into joining Shiki’s crew. No doubt remembering her last unwilling partnership with a pirate, as well as her past in the East Blue in general, Nami managed to keep her composure despite her tumultuous feelings towards the situations. The simple yet stunning nature of her outfit reinforced how coldly she received Shiki’s offers, as she dressed much more plainly than she would have with the Straw Hats.

  • Nami’s outfit manages to match the rest of the Straw Hats when they come to rescue her, despite her not knowing their own outfit changes.

Moreover, this outfit served to highlight her connection to the rest of the Straw Hats. Without her knowledge, the rest of the Straw Hats had also changed into dark, stylish clothing. Thus, she managed to be a cohesive member of the crew despite their distance, proving just how strong her connection to her crew mates is.

16 Nami’s Punk Hazard Outfit Is Warm and Classy

With the Relatively Rare Occurrence of a Chilly Climate, Nami was Able to Show Some of the Range in Her Wardrobe

Usopp looks serious next to Sanji, who is inhabiting Nami's body, during the Punk Hazard Arc of One Piece.

No single island in the One Piece universe features a more diverse climate than Punk Hazard. A massive battle between the Marines’ strongest Admirals, Akainu and Aokiji, split the island into two polar opposite climates, one filled with lava and the other an icy tundra, and as a result, it is the perfect location for Nami to show off the range of her wardrobe.

  • Nami actually spends a considerable amount of time in Franky’s body during the Punk Hazard arc due to Law’s power.

While the Straw Hat Pirates are exploring the frozen half of Punk Hazard, Nami temporarily sports a full-length black coat and pink gloves that are perfectly suited to the occasion. Frigid environments are fairly rare in One Piece, so this cozy outfit added some much-needed depth to her winter collection. Although it is a fairly simple outfit on its own, the rare wintry occurrence makes up for its lack of intricacy.

15 Nami’s Skypiea Outfit Is Iconic For a Sky Island Adventure

Atypically, Nami Has Her Hair in Pigtails, Complementing Her New Look

The Skypiea arc’s borderline isekai setting makes it one of the most unique in all of One Piece, so it’s only fitting that Nami’s costume would also stand apart from the rest. Her hair is notably different while on the mythical island, as it is tied into pigtails rather than her typical bob-cut style. In addition to this, Nami also sports a fun top emblazoned with a cloudy design that parallels the setting of Skypiea.

  • Nami’s control of the Waver is the only reason that Luffy managed to reach Enel’s ship.

Additionally, Nami’s bikini top also matches the beach setting that the Straw Hats relax upon their arrival on the Sky Island. This wardrobe’s atypical design and synergy with its arc make the outfit one of Nami’s best. It’s still one of Nami’s more basic outfits and doesn’t compare to her wardrobe’s best offerings, which is why it is ranked at spot number fifteen, but the cloud pattern does help remind fans of Mr. Oda’s remarkable attention to detail.

14 Nami’s Water 7 Outfit Gives Her a Business Look

The Relatively Conservative Nature of the Outfit Stands in Contrast to Many of Nami’s Other Fashion Choices

Nami smiles and throws berries into the air in One Piece.

Nami’s costumes tend to accentuate her figure, especially after the series’ two-year timeskip. However, author Eiichiro Oda switched things up for the events of the Water 7 arc, introducing an unorthodox outfit for the character that did a great job of subverting audience expectations by being relatively more conservative than her typical looks.

  • Another oddity about this outfit, is the fact that Nami pulls a gun on an enemy while wearing it. Considering she never uses one again, this is a unique occurrence.

Nami’s blue button-up shirt and tie are, at least for Nami, uncommonly masculine articles of clothing — her high-hemmed skirt is, on the other hand, a much more traditional look for her character. Compared to the other Straw Hats, this is easily the best outfit seen throughout the entire arc. Moreover, her outfit in Water 7 gave her a business look, which suited the Straw Hats’ dealings with the Galley-La company to buy a new ship, as well as the theft of their money at the hands of the Franky Family.

13 Nami’s Arlong Park Outfit Revealed Her Tattoo

This Was a Significant Symbol of Nami’s Oppression under Arlong

Nami is stabbing her Arlong Pirates tattoo during the Arlong Parc Arc in One Piece.

Every time that a character joins the Straw Hat Pirates, it marks a huge moment of significance for One Piece. Despite being the first Straw Hat pirate shown on screen, Nami doesn’t officially join Luffy’s crew until their time together during the Arlong Park arc. Here, fans are shown Nami’s background, placing the narrative spotlight on her throughout the arc.

  • Nami changed her tattoo to be pinwheel with tangerines on the end in order to honor her mother Bellemere and the town’s sherriff, Genzo, who also helped care for her and her sister, Nojiko.

Given Nami’s relevance to the arc, it was crucial that the crew’s navigator be dressed in a costume worthy of Arlong Park’s significance. Thankfully, One Piece succeeds in this regard, outfitting Nami with a cute green top that elicits a warm connection between the arc and the events of her childhood. Also, Nami’s outfit had no sleeves, revealing her Arlong tattoo for the first time, which makes this outfit even more significant.

12 Nami’s Post-War Outfit Hinted at Her True Feelings at the Time

The Text on the Shirt Alludes to Her Tumultuous Emotions

Namie is wearing a blue shirt with the word "moody" on it during her time on Weatheria in One Piece's Post-War Arc.

Although the Straw Hat Pirates rarely suffer from any significant in-fighting, there is no denying that their navigator, Nami, occasionally sports a pouty disposition, particularly when a debt is involved. Her affinity for material possessions has caused her countless heartaches thanks to her crewmates’ destructive behavior — a trend comically alluded to in the outfit she wears during One Piece‘s Post-War arc.

  • Nami deceives the residence on Weatheria multiple times while trying to escape, resulting in her brief imprisonment by the researchers.

When Nami is teleported away from Sabaody Archipelago, she arrives at an artificial island full of researchers that study the weather. There, she wears a blue top that simply reads “moody,” immediately setting the tone for her stay on the island over the next two years. Although it is a bit on the nose, the shirt perfectly conveys her feelings upon learning about Ace’s death, as well as showcases her deceptive abilities as she displays the emotions most suited to getting the Weatheria residents to trust her.

11 Nami’s Raid Suit is Vivid and Matches Her Hair

She Looks Lethal and Beautiful in the Germa Suit

The Straw Hat Pirates have donned Raid Suits in a cover spread for the One Piece manga.

The Vinsmoke family is a major part of the One Piece narrative thanks to their connection with the Straw Hat Pirates’ cook, Sanji. However, an underrated part of their impact on the series stems from their introduction of Raid Suits, the stylized super-suits worn by the royal family of Germa Kingdom, granting them the ability of flight and other specialized powers such as super strength and invisibility.

  • One of Sanji’s brothers, Yonji, expressed his desire to be with Nami when he saw her during the Whole Cake Island arc.

In Chapter 872 of the One Piece manga, author Eiichiro Oda penned a special manga cover spread featuring all the Straw Hat Pirates in their own version of Germa’s Raid Suits. Nami’s orange version of the costume is especially on-point compared to her peers, and accordingly, she is prominently featured in the middle of the image. It even matches her vivid orange hair.

10 Nami is Dressed Casually in One Piece: The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle

This Comfortable Look Has a Charmingly Relaxed Style

As mentioned, Nami is well known for her avarice. Not only are characters such as Luffy and Zoro in constant debt to her, especially pre-timeskip, but she is influenced by the promise of money, as well. She even rapidly accepted Robin onto the crew despite her older crewmates villainous actions once the archaeologist mentioned treasured, much to Usopp and Zoro’s resignation.

  • Nami only agrees to help Roba because Roba promises her treasure.

Thus, the shirt Nami wears in One Piece: The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle is right on the money. That is not the only reason that this shirt is ranked at the midway point, though. The fashionable belt and eye-catching color combination of the pants and top make this outfit one of her more interesting casual combinations, too.

9 Nami’s Wano Country Outfits Add Some Japanese Flair

Nami is like a starlet under the spotlight whenever she’s featured in One Piece anime episodes, since viewers can always expect a great showing from h

The Wano arc brought a distinctly Japanese flair to One Piece, dropping the anime’s typical nautical atmosphere in favor of a nod to its author’s native culture. Accordingly, each of the Straw Hat Pirates received new outfits in order to blend in with the island’s residents. Nami wore a few similar outfits in that arc, including a charming and Japanese-inspired red outfit, with vivid colors that match her energetic personality.

  • This is the fourth of seven outfits that Nami wears during the Wano arc.

While all these costume changes were well-received, Nami’s is a particularly great addition to the show. The Straw Hat navigator’s otufits throughout the Wano arc alluded to traditional Japanese culture — something that can’t be said about the vast majority of One Piece‘s aesthetics. With this outfit on, Nami had an impressive fight against Ulti and looked good at the same time.

8 Nami’s Whole Cake Island Outfit Features a Classy Backless Dress

It is Perfect for the Wedding That She Planned to Crash

Chopper and Nami are lying down during the Whole Cake Island arc in One Piece.

While One Piece depicts various atmospheres and cultures, the Straw Hat crew rarely gets thrown into an environment that requires them to don formal attire. However, the Straw Hats dressed to impress when meeting the Fire Tank Pirates, led by Capone “Gang” Bege, in order to discuss forming an alliance to take down Big Mom. Nami continued to wear her formal attire as the wedding that occurs during the Whole Cake Island arc required that the crew look their best.

  • Nami realizes that Lola, who she befriended during the Thriller Bark arc, was one of Big Mom’s daughters during the Whole Cake Island arc.

Given Nami’s affinity for high fashion, it should come as no surprise that her outfit is arguably the best shown throughout the entire sequence. Her backless turtleneck dress and tied-up hairstyle easily outclass the majority of the other wedding-goers, as well as both the Straw Hats and Fire Tank Pirates.

7 Nami’s Undercover Wano Outfit is a Soothing Blue

The Brightness of the Outfit Complements Her Joyful Moments

Nami is breaking into a building alongside Shinobu during One Piece's Wano Arc.

Nami underwent multiple outfit changes throughout her time in Wano, as was necessary to maintain different covers at various points throughout the show. In one such instance, she donned a blue kimono with an orange sash while infiltrating a building in order to obtain information critical to the Straw Hats’ mission to take down the Emperor Kaido alongside Oden Kozuki’s Red Scabbards.

  • Nami relied on Shinobu’s guidance while spying on officials related to Kaido’s rule in Wano.

This nice blue kimono has a pleasant white star design adorning it, and goes well with Nami’s blue tattoo. Additionally, much like the red outfit that Nami wears later in the same arc, this outfit is a nod to Oda’s Japanese culture. She also is wearing her hair up, which is relatively rare in the post-timeskip era. All these elements combined make this one of Nami’s best outfits.

6 Nami’s Enies Lobby Outfit Has a Cool Jean Jacket and Skirt Combo

This Outfit Showcases Her Pirate Nature

Nami is wielding the Clima-Tact against Kalifa during One Piece's Enies Lobby arc.

Fans regard the Enies Lobby arc as one of One Piece‘s best due to its impressive fights and memorable character arcs for both Nico Robin and Usopp. Yet, an aspect of the narrative that often goes underappreciated is its excellent use of costuming. The Straw Hat Pirates’ defiance of the World Government is well-represented through rebellious outfits like the jean jacket-short skirt combo worn by Nami during most of the arc.

  • Sanji was the first to encounter Kalifa, but was defeated as he refused to fight a woman. When Nami found him, she angrily assured him that she would take over the fight.

Generally, Nami’s outfits opt for beauty rather than intimidation. However, in the case of Enies Lobby, the skilled navigator looks more like a pirate than ever, perfectly complementing her newfound stance against the World Government as she battles against Kalifa. Thus, this is one of Nami’s best outfits not only due to its overall stylish appearance, but also for its narrative cohesion.

5 Nami’s Raid On Onigashima Outfit Gives Her a Wonderfully Devilish Look

The Balance of Cute and Edgy is an Insight into Her Own Deadly Nature

Taking down any of the mighty Four Emperors and their crews is one of the most difficult tasks in the entire world of One Piece — a fact the Straw Hat Pirates were forced to acknowledge during their fight against Kaido, Wano’s resident Yonko. In an attempt to infiltrate the Beast Pirates’ ranks, Nami and her crewmates dressed up in the rival crew’s attire, resulting in a fantastic change of pace for the show’s visual presentation.

  • Nami received this outfit through Kin’emon’s Devil Fruit, which allows him to manifest clothing for himself and others.

Nami’s outfit fits her character surprisingly well, combining her trademark flair with a bit of edginess that alludes to her increasing level of power. This is especially apparent when she sits upon Franky’s tank like a queen. Purple boas, armored shoulder pads and devil horns rarely make for a good combination, but against all odds, the orange-haired Straw Hat pulls it off, putting it in the fifth spot on this list.

4 Nami’s The National Treasure Of Zou Outfit is an Elegant Violet Dress

The Dress Has Special Meaning for the Residents of Zou

Nami has donned her purple dress during the Zou arc in One Piece.

The island of Zou is a peculiar one, even as far as One Piece goes. The Mink residents that call Zou home are located on the back of a giant elephant named Zunesha that wanders the seas. The populace of Zou are a bit strange, with outdated customs and unusual habits due to their Mink culture, and they regard artifacts like the purple dress that Nami wears to be of the utmost importance.

  • Nami gifted the green top she wore during the Return to Sabaody arc to one of the minks named Wanda during the Zou arc.

Even if appearances were all that the aforementioned dress was judged on, then it would make sense for the article of clothing to be so significant to the residents of Zou. Its lace design and accompanying pearls are as visually stunning as any seen post-time skip, showing off Nami’s elegant beauty as an iconic Straw Hat crewmate. It’s also a reminder that Nami’s wardrobe is a smart mix of classy, dinner party-worthy gowns and practical outfits for any adventure.

3 Nami’s Whole Cake Outfit Fits the Fairytale Theme

The Red and White Outfit Blends with the Cute Fable Motif Present in Whole Cake

Nami is holding her Clima-Tact in a ready position and scowling during the Whole Cake Island Arc.

Whole Cake is a fairytale nightmare, with trees and clouds that sing happy tunes while also monitoring all the activity on the island. Nami’s white and red outfit in the Whole Cake arc is very fitting for such an occasion, as it brings to mind childhood fables, such as Hansel and Gretel. This is especially pertinent when Nami encounters Charlotte Brulee, who is depicted much like a witch.

  • Nami is also in possession of a Vivre Card given by Lola, which contains the essence of Big Mom. This allowed her to repel many of Whole Cake Island’s Homies.

While the fact that Nami’s outfit matches the theme of the island, making her feel as though she was always a resident, her outfit is also very cute. The ruffled shirt and red overall dress contribute greatly to the feeling that she is in a storybook. Additionally, her hair are back in pigtails, a rare return of the hairstyle she wore during the Skypiea arc, making this fashion choice one of her more unique.

2 Nami’s Pre-Time Skip Outfit Is Simple Yet Iconic

As the Outfit Nami Wore Most Consistently in the East Blue Sage, it is Heavily Associated with Her

Nami is looking at a map during th Orange Town Arc in One Piece.

Regardless of how many costumes each One Piece character wears, they are heavily associated with what they wear during their first on-screen appearance. As evidenced by Nami’s classic white-and-blue shirt and yellow skirt back in the East Blue saga, Eiichiro Oda is excellent at carefully curating these outfits to match the characters’ personalities.

  • Nami’s initial design was very different, as she was originally drawn as a cyborg with a giant axe before Oda settled on the design depicted.

Nami still works as a youthful cat burglar when fans first see her in this outfit, which is actually the third outfit she wears in the anime. However, these clothes remain a recurring part of her visual design throughout the pre-time skip events of the series despite her initially wearing the clothes as a thief and not a pirate, providing the perfect connection between her past actions and her new life as part of the Straw Hat Pirates.

1 Nami’s Alabasta Outfit is Delightful

Moreover, it Reflects Her Close Bond with Vivi

One Piece almost never wastes its viewers’ time, and as a result, most of its arcs are chock-full of memorable moments and quality outfits. However, even keeping this in mind, the Alabasta arc is arguably the highest point in the entire series. Every scene, plot point, character, and outfit is perfectly curated, including one of the best outfits in shonen history — Nami’s beautiful desert dress.

  • Nami’s outfit was chosen by Sanji, who proceeded to fawn over how beautiful she looked in it.

The Alabasta Kingdom clearly draws influence from Egyptian culture, and this is reflected in Nami’s wardrobe for the second half of the arc. Its belly-dancer charm and Alabastian accessories help establish Nami’s ever-growing connection to the homeland of her friend, Princess Nefeltari Vivi, who almost joined the Straw Hats. Nami’s outfit matched the story’s theme while also expressing her own outspoken identity. That heartwarming theme of Nami’s Alabasta outfit makes it the best Nami style. It’s more than stylish threads, it’s a gesture of true friendship among heroic women.
