In March 2024, we released a video showcasing a fan remake of Need for Speed: Most Wanted in Unreal Engine 5. And today, we're excited to share a new video with you showcasing over 50 minutes of gameplay footage from it.
In this latest version of this fan remake, NostalgiaNexus has added the police AI. This is an important part of the gameplay in NFS: MW, making the remake finally feel like more than just a tech demo for Unreal Engine 5. The developer has also improved more textures and added speed line effects similar to those in the Xbox 360 version. In addition, they have also improved the sounds of the BMW M3 GT.
This 50-minute gameplay video shows some chases and free-roaming around the city. NostalgiaNexus also released a comparison video between the latest version of their remake and the original 2005 game, so you can see how much better the fan remake looks and plays. And honestly, it actually looks better, so I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you're a diehard NFS fan.
What's really great about this fan remake is how similar it is to the original. NostalgiaNexus has done a fantastic job of capturing the art style and design of the original game perfectly. This is what a modern official remake of NFS: MW should look like.
Unfortunately, there is no way to download this fan remake yet. I assume the developer will release it as soon as it is ready, so let's hope he doesn't get a C&D letter from EA.
Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For example, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3 that are super cool. A few months ago, we also shared an awesome remake of Toy Story 2. Then there's this awesome fan remake of STALKER that's worth a look. Then there's this awesome fan remake of STALKER that's worth a look. Oh, and don't miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it's pretty impressive. You should also check out the full remake video for Final Fantasy 9 and this HD 2D fan remake for Xenogears.
Need for Speed Carbon and Tony Hawk's Underground have also received some cool remakes. Oh, and there's a fan remake of Tomb Raider The Last Revelation starring Angelina Jolie and Christoph Walz.
