Morena Baccarin Shares New Details About Her Fire Country Spinoff

Morena Baccarin will soon be the protagonist of Sheriff's Countrya spin-off of the hit series Country of fireAhead of the series' arrival, Baccarin shared some new details about her character.




According to Collider, Baccarin commented Sheriff's Country during a panel hosted by Maggie Lovitt at Fan Expo Canada. She said she's not sure where the story is going yet, as the series is still in the middle of writing the pilot. That said, Baccarain was able to share some new background details for her character, Mickey Fox, who previously appeared in in Country of fire to help create the spin-off.


“I actually know absolutely nothing. They are working on the first episode [with the] staff in the writers room right now. You know the script of the first episode,” Baccarin said. “I have a daughter and I'm caught up in this kind of drama, political drama that's happening in the citywhich has to do with the illegal cultivation of marijuana, for which my father was arrested.”

Earlier this year it was revealed that Baccarin would star in Sheriff's Countryand his character was introduced in the episode “Alert the Sheriff.” In May, the spinoff was officially ordered for the 2025-26 season. While there's still a bit of a wait before fans see the spinoff, it won't be long before they get a chance to see Baccarin's Mickey Fox again. It was recently revealed that Mickey will appear in Country of fire Season 3. Baccarin's show could also end up becoming just one of many Country of fire spin-offs to be developed for the franchise.


“We’re focusing on massive franchises,” CBS Chairman and CEO George Cheeks previously told Deadline before Sheriff's Country has been officially announced. “The number one show this season was Country of firethat lends itself completely to building a whole new universe… It became very clear that not only was the show special, but it really felt like it could be a great example of us building a franchise together from the ground up. And so I was like, “Guys, congratulations, you've got your back nine. Now let's start talking about ideas for new extensions.” They've already invented some fantastic ones.”

Country of fire returns for its third season on Friday, October 18. In the meantime, Baccarin can currently be seen on the big screen with her role in the hit film Deadpool and Wolverinewhich has just reclaimed the top spot at the box office in its fifth weekend in theaters. Baccarin had already appeared in the first two Dead Pool films like Vanessa.
