When you look Wistoria: Wand and SwordIt's easy to only think of wizards. The series focuses mainly on the training of wizards in schools. The dungeon is considered secondary, which makes sense since Of wisteria the protagonist, Will, would dominate if the focus was dungeon combat.
However, Wisteria still has some awesome monster designs. While they aren't the focus of the series, it's easy to see how they present a huge challenge to any young mage. Not only are they visually impressive, but they also have unique abilities that force the protagonists to be on their toes at all times. While the anime showed off some amazing designs, the manga showed off even more, making fans want to spend even more time inside the dungeon.
10 Evil guards are powerful beasts that create and shoot projectiles.
First Appearance: Episode 1, “Like a Lonely Sword”
It is important to understand the basics. Introduced in the first episode, The Evil Guards are four-legged enemies that roam the seventh floor. Resembling monstrous saber-toothed tigers, they boast imposing horns and gigantic fangs that would scare most enemies away.
The Evil Guards also seem capable of using magic, generating projectiles to defend themselves when necessary. None of this stops Will from taking them down, though. This one ranks at the bottom of the list because, while it looks cool, it's nowhere near as impressive as some of the later monsters.
9 Deformis Serpent is a threat to inexperienced mages
First Appearance: Chapter 14, “Nightmare Without End”
The Deformis Serpent doesn't appear for very long compared to the other monsters. It makes its appearance in Chapter 14, after Will's group is thrown into the lower floors by the villains. Wignall wakes up to see Will fighting it while he is still recovering from the attack.
THE The Deformis Serpent can confuse normal wizards who are not used to being on the lower levels of the dungeon. Even some of the most talented wizard students are helpless in the face of this. While Will was able to take them down effortlessly, it is only because the dungeon is the only way he can pass the exams.
8 The evil sentinel wields a blade to deal with his enemies.
First Appearance: Episode 1, “Like A Lone Blade”
In the first episode, Sion and his friends' journey through the dungeon went awry when they encountered this gigantic behemoth. Normally found in the lower levels, Evil Sentinel managed to get rid of Sion's friends with just one punch. With his armor, he ignored Sion's fire spells, which meant that if Will hadn't arrived the situation would have been hopeless.
This is a classic type of monster that is intimidating mostly because of its size. However, seeing it wield a giant sword is awesome, especially since it can alternate between swordplay and hand-to-hand combat. For novice mages, it's easy to see why they would struggle with something that can shrug off spells and basic attacks with such ferocity.
First appearance: Episode 3, “Order & Watcher”
The evolved form of the Frost Walkers, the Frost Rex, was Will's challenge in the third episode. A mass of ice that freezes people on contact, the Frost Rex is invulnerable to physical attacks. He is known as the “Dwarf Killer” for his ability to defeat dwarves, who have incredible physical strength but lack any magical talent.
The Frost Rex's main appeal is its enormous size, although it also speaks the term “monster.” It's all eyes, teeth, and blasts of ice that look like Godzilla's mouth. Its ability to not only ignore physical attacks but also freeze people should have been a hindrance to Will, but fortunately the explosions are just as useful as the fire spells.. This kind of monster strain is exactly why Wisteria It's an anime designed for D&D lovers.
6 Gergesa use their sense of smell
First Appearance: Chapter 14, “Nightmare Without End”
Will and Wignall encounter the Gergesa on the lower levels of the dungeon. Just as Will is trying to get their team together, a group of them emerges from the depths. The Gergesa are giant boar monsters that operate in groups. and have the potential to annihilate weaker wizards.
One of their special abilities is that they completely ignore illusions, as they operate solely through their sense of smell. This causes Wignall's plan to fight them with illusions alone to backfire. Although Will manages to defeat them with his sword, this is another example of monsters requiring more than just power to survive in the dungeons.
5 Balkars are invulnerable to non-elven magic.
First Appearance: Chapter 15, “Our Dream”
Deep in the dungeon, Will and Wignall find themselves pushed to their limits by battling multiple waves of monsters. Although they are exhausted, the dungeon does not give up. Instead, it creates a new set of monsters: the Balkars, beings made entirely of flame.
The Balkars are dangerous to both physical fighters AND normal wizards, due to their physical composition. They are completely immune to physical damage and also have a high resistance to spells. The only type of wizard capable of combating them are elves, with their “phantasmagoric” magic that turns illusions into reality.
4 Walth's Oozes are only vulnerable to magical attacks.
First appearance: Chapter 33, “Only Forward”
Although Will gains access to the inner tower, this does not end his need to prove himself to the other mages. Kreutz Harlon, Paramount of the Upper Institute, reveals a new type of monster to challenge Will, the Walth Ooze. Created specifically to quell potential dwarven uprisings, the Walth Ooze cannot be destroyed by physical attacks, but require only minor magical attacks to defeat.
THE Walth Ooze not only looks great, but also demonstrates the wizards' ability to create monsters. themselves. It's a clever idea that works perfectly, as none of Will's attacks work initially. It's only by mastering the ability to unlock his magic sword without the help of others that he can hit these monsters. Luckily, these guys weren't as powerful as Rimuru Tempest.
3 The Evil Grand Duke is a level boss with nearly invincible armor.
First Appearance: Chapter 13, “Let the Practice Begin”
Boss of the 25th floor, the Grand Duke was teleported to the 10th floor by Headless to distract the mages. Just like Sword Art OnlineThe Grand Duke is capable of terrifying feats. His enormous power allowed him to shatter the tenth floor with a single blow from his mouth, sending Will and his allies to the lower levels. Meanwhile, his mere existence causes other monsters to gather around to become troops that cause more destruction.
THE The Grand Duke not only boasts the power of flight, but also has nearly invincible armor. like skin. Sion, Julius, and Lihanna all hit him with high-level spells only to have them shrugged off. Only Will, unlocking Wis's power for the first time, managed to save any of them.
2 Dinobolos are unstoppable monsters from the deep sea
First Appearance: Chapter 22, “Boundary Festival”
Dinobolos are monsters from the depths of the dungeon. Only a few of the most powerful mages are destined to see them. With Headless and Marze, however, a number of Dinobolos have been teleported to the capital to force the Vander Magic out.
These demonic looking monsters are some of the best designs in Wistoria: Wand and Sword until now. Dinobolos loom menacingly over their opponents and boast the ability to fly. to easily hunt down their prey. With Gohtia's support, many of them also wield Mage-killers, blades that nullify spells when wizards get close. Trying to fight regular Dinobolos is difficult enough, but with the mage-killers, only Will and the dwarves stood a chance.
1 The Devende are unstoppable by both wizards and dwarves.
Chapter 24: “Dancing the Tragedy”
A unique type monster from the 40th floor, the Devende was a monster that managed to evade capture for a long time. Its powers were great enough to even allow it to kill former members of Magia Vander, making it by far one of the strongest enemies in the show. While it was able to fight the Dinobolos, Will was nearly knocked out by a single blow from the Devende.
However, its strength and speed are not the Devende's true power. Instead, it is its ability to absorb the magical energies of other monsters like wizards do, to transform into a more powerful version. This evolved form is capable of overpowering both wizards and dwarves, making it completely unstoppable. Only Will, drawing on the power of his Wis, was able to finish it off. The Devende has easily been the coolest monster in the series so far, but it also has the potential to be one of the strongest monsters in anime.
