Metaphor: ReFantazio is a high fantasy Persona or Shin Megami Tensei with cool fonts and a warm heart. Edwin liked the hybrid combat system, while James was impressed with the crazy libs monster design. It's due out on October 11th, but you don't have to wait until then to start planning it and you on these various axes. There's a demo you can play right now.
You can find the prologue demo on the game's Steam page or on its own dedicated Steam page. You can write a review of the demo on the second page, according to Steam's latest changes to demos.
The demo features the beginning of Metaphor's story, where “the hero embarks on a journey to save his best friend, the prince,” and participates in an election to become the new king. Is that how kings work now? You'll be able to fight through the game's first four dungeons and unlock seven of the game's 40 character classes, called Archetypes. Your progress will carry over to the full game, should you choose to purchase it.
Metaphor has more than just fonts to draw comparisons to Persona. While you're not set in a school with a strict schedule, time management in the game still matters, and you'll spend your daytime adventuring, fighting, treasure-making, and evenings making friends. Maybe you'll even befriend the face-tooth James admires, I dunno.
If it's not clear, this was made by Persona and Shin Megami Tensei developers Atlus, with design by Personas 3-5 director Katsura Hashino. They can copy from them, that's fine. It's even recommended.
