After the announcement that a White collar revival series is in the works, a new update has been shared by star Matt Bomer. While this includes confirmation that the revival has not yet been greenlit, Bomer did hint that the revival will pick up right where the original show left off in a way that is “really smart.”
“His Fantasticand it's completely in line and in keeping with the show that we've been able to do six seasons of,” Bomer explained in an interview with People. “It really feels like he's been able to Let's pick up where we left off.”
The actor added: “It's a really smart, fun and organic way to bring all the characters together to pay tribute to Willie Garson, Diahann Carroll and the people we've lost since the series ended, which was really important to me. It's something that if you enjoyed the series, you'll really enjoy watching.”
If you liked the show, you'll really enjoy watching this.
The caveat at this point is that the revival hasn't received a formal green light yet, and Bomer isn't exactly sure how far along that process is, noting, “A lot of those decisions are above my level of expertise and out of my control.” However, he's still excited to reunite the gang, as he's even thinking about potential storylines that could be addressed with the return. Bomer named Tim DeKay (Peter Burke) and Tiffani Thiessen (Elizabeth Burke) as two examples of former co-stars he was excited to reunite with for the revival.
“A lot of that experience was just be with that group of people“, Bomer explained. “We worked a lot of hours on that show, and Never It felt like work. It was such a fun, free, open environment and a great place to create and explore characters.”
The recovery plans were announced in June
In June, series creator Jeff Eastin announced that a White collar revival was in the works. At the time, Bomer was joined by DeKay and Thiessen in publicly confirming that they were open to reprising their roles in the new show. The announcement was exciting for many fans who were already familiar with the characters and wondering what might have happened with them after the events of the show. While the revival is planned to answer many lingering questions, it is also intended to be written in a way that will make it appealing to newcomers to the franchise who hadn't seen the previous show.
“It's a great script and it answers all the questions you have watching the show,” DeKay said, according to Variety. “It would introduce the show to people who haven't seen it. Both sides of the sword are sharp.”
There is no release date set yet for White collar rebirth.
