KRAFTON today announced the acquisition of Tango Gameworks, which Microsoft closed in May 2024. In addition, KRAFTON has acquired the Hi-Fi RUSH IP.
As part of this strategic agreement, KRAFTON intends to work with Xbox and ZeniMax to ensure a smooth transition and maintain continuity at Tango Gameworks, allowing the talented team to continue developing the Hi-Fi RUSH IP and explore future projects.
KRAFTON says it wants to support the team at Tango Gameworks as they continue their commitment to innovation and bring new and exciting experiences to fans.
The company also noted that there will be no impact on the existing game catalog of The Evil Within, The Evil Within 2, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and the original Hi-Fi RUSH game, and they will remain available wherever they are available today.
Note that while KRAFTON now owns the Hi-Fi RUSH IP, they do NOT own The Evil Within or Ghostwire: Tokyo. Those IPs remain in the hands of Bethesda and Microsoft.
It will be interesting to see how many of the former developers at Tango Gameworks will return to the studio, as right now the people behind what most gamers loved about the studio are no longer there. Still, this is good news at least.
Stay tuned for more!

Before founding DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. Although he is a diehard PC gamer, his gaming roots lie on consoles. John loved – and still loves – the 16-bit consoles and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. However, the PC platform won him over consoles. This was mainly due to 3DFX and its legendary dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on “The Evolution of PC Graphics Cards”.
