It's Under Sumer Shadow Tactics but you're hammering the back of the Nazis' skull

I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the voice actors in the secret Mimimi-style con’em up Sumerian Six are Americans imitating British accents. The opening radio conversation between cast member Sid and a friend has that charming tone of an overzealous Cockney accent. It also includes the words “bloody” and “ass” in rapid succession, though thankfully not next to each other. The only clunk is the logs Sid is crouching behind as he prepares to sneak onto a Nazi-guarded cable car. That’s the only hemorrhoid reference I’ll make on this website. Until the next time I have to write about Andrew Wilson.

“Fat just use my trusty knife,” mutters Sid as he takes out my first guard. The animation and noise indicators immediately conjure up the same Shadow Tactics or Desperados III goodness you'd probably expect. That's fine by me – that's exactly what I'm here for. Mimimi's closing act was a real gut-puncher, and while I don't expect anyone to match their phenomenal work anytime soon, it's at least reassuring to see Warsaw studio Artificer take up the torch.

That's not to say The Sumerian Six doesn't introduce some new tricks right away. Sid packs a small robot spider that he can use to 'hitchhike' guards, allowing him to pass unseen along patrol routes. I'm also a fan of the option to speed up time without having to wait for a guard to get within spider range.

A scientist named Isabella soon joins the team. She has a cloaking device, which is probably the single most uninteresting gadget you could give a stealthy character, but it quickly runs out of energy when she moves. She's also capable of completely brutally beating every Nazi with a regular hammer that can't help but get stuck in the back of their skull. Very satisfying.

I'm currently so busy with long-distance space travel that I haven't been able to spend as much time with Sumerian Six as I'd like, but here are some details from its Steam page:

Inspired by real places and events, Sumerian Six takes you on a journey through alternate history, where folk tales and conspiracy theories are as real as the Nazi threat.

Led by Hans Kammler, a former member of your team, the Nazis use arcane science to create the ultimate Wunderwaffe. Face off against heavily armed, mutated, and supernaturally powerful forces and put your strategic abilities and dexterity to the ultimate test.

As you delve deeper into the Nazi conspiracy, you will encounter occult-scientific weapons and ancient Sumerian artifacts linked to Kammler's machinations. If the Nazis prevail, a bleak future awaits you, so do your best to prevent that dark timeline from coming true in this real-time tactical stealth adventure.

It will be out in a few days, on this exact date – September 2. At the time of writing, there is a demo on Steam. Also, it looks like one of the six games is a bear.
