Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 sets a streaming release date as the Kevin Costner-starring Western drama hopes to regain momentum after a disappointing box office run. The first installment is expected to debut on Max very soon.




Warner Bros. has confirmed Chapter 1 will be available for streaming via Max on August 23just under two months after the film first hit theaters. The news comes after Chapter 1 It was released digitally in advance of its theatrical release, which only grossed $32.7 million at the box office against a $50 million budget.

However, Costner recently called out “dismissive” critics of the first installment, insisting Chapter 1 has great value in its narrative. Despite the difficulties during its cinematic run, Chapter 1 has achieved success in the video-on-demand sector.

Having first commissioned Horizon in 1988, Costner has long considered the Western drama as a passion project, having invested large sums of money in the film series.
