Homeworld 3's upcoming paid DLC and free updates will now release in November instead of 2025

Homeworld 3 is tightening up its release schedule for post-launch updates. Instead of free and paid content arriving in 2025, they will all arrive together – three free updates and two paid DLCs – in “one big update” in November.

“Following the release of the 1.2 update, we've made the decision to combine all remaining paid DLC and free content on the roadmap into a single, unified delivery in November. Combining content into one hit will allow us to focus all of our resources and deliver a higher quality experience to all of you,” reads the roadmap change announcement.

Here is a visual explaining the new roadmap:

Homeworld 3's post-launch content roadmap.

“With the changes we've made, we want to make sure that those of you who purchase the Year One Pass will get everything we promised you before. We've also made changes to our plans to add elements requested by the community,” according to the announcement.

The Year One Pass provided access to three paid DLCs that will expand the cooperative Wargames mode with new playable factions and artifacts. These are the Remnant Raiders pack, which released in July, and the Somtaaw and Taiidan fleet packs, currently set for release in November.

While being able to get some of these updates early is a good thing in itself, if you look at the comments of the announcement post, you'll see that many players are disappointed that the Somtaaaw fleet pack only includes two new ships, and are concerned that this means the game won't receive any more updates after the end of the year.

In our Homeworld 3 review , Nic found the game to be a bit too faithful to its predecessors at times, but also criticized it for “favoring responsiveness over tactical depth.” The November update will include free changes based on community feedback, some of which could help address a specific issue, such as the ability for players to decide when they're ready to move on to the next mission, a more linear tech tree, and a reduction in the resources available to decide which ships are more important to build.
