It's been a year since we last saw Neo Berlin 2087. And today, Elysium Game Studio released the Gamescom 2024 trailer for its third-person/first-person action RPG.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Neo Berlin 2087 promises to be a deep, cinematic detective thriller, where players will unravel a vast conspiracy on an emotional cyberpunk journey of justice, friendship, love, guilt, sacrifice and betrayal.
In some ways, this trailer shows the benefits of UE5. The game's animations may be a bit rough, but the graphics look great. For the most part, anyway.
What I mean by the trailer demonstrating the benefits of UE5 is quite simple. Elysium Game Studio is a really small studio, and the fact that they can make a game that looks this good speaks volumes about the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5.
Although Neo Berlin 2087 looks great, you should never consider it a triple-A game. It may look like it. However, it is a double-A title. In short, you can't compare it to something like Deus Ex Human Revolution. That game had a HUGE budget. You also can't expect it to be as polished as what we get from Activision, Ubisoft, or even Square Enix.
Speaking of Deus Ex, I can't help but laugh at the main protagonist's dubbing. It's SO OBVIOUS that they were trying to imitate Adam Jensen. However, since the game seems to be inspired by Deus Ex and Blade Runner, I can't blame them.
So for what it is, Neo Berlin 2087 looks great. But lower your expectations a little. It won't be second best. Still, it can provide an entertaining single-player experience.
There is currently no expected release date for Neo Berlin 2087. But we will of course keep you updated.
Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!
