Here are 27 minutes of gameplay from Dune: Awakening

Funcom has released a new video for Dune: Awakening, featuring 27 minutes of brand new gameplay footage. In this video, we see the game's character creator and get an in-depth look at the player's journey from scavenging survivor to powerful spice hunter.

Dune Awakening promises to mix the cool stuff of sandbox survival games with the social fun of big multiplayer games. At least, that's Funcom's intention. Just like other games, there's combat, experience points, a crafting system, as well as a base building system. It's not my cup of tea, but I can understand why Funcom went down this MMO route.

Players can shape their identity and build their skills, from detailed character creation to skills and abilities. They can then scour the deserts for massive chunks of spice to harvest the universe's most valuable resource. In addition, they can create a guild and grow it into a small house by allying themselves with one of the major houses.

Dune Awakening is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and will take full advantage of Nanite and Lumen. NVIDIA also announced that the game will support DLSS 3 upon release.

Dune Awakening is currently scheduled to be released on PC in early 2025. Unfortunately, we don't have an exact expected release date yet. We also don't have any PC requirements for it. But we'll keep you updated, of course.

Since I'm not a fan of multiplayer games, this doesn't really interest me. While I really like the Dune universe, I would prefer a story-driven single-player game. Unfortunately, we can't always get what we want. This is a shame, as there was a lot of potential for an interesting Dune single-player game.

Have fun and stay tuned for more!
