Modder “fromsoftserve” has released the first HD texture pack for Bloodborne, which you can use on PC via the PlayStation 4 emulator shadPS4. This is a WIP project, which means it doesn’t cover all the bases, so let’s take a closer look.
As fromsoftserve noted, this pack covers five areas. These are Hunter's Dream, Central Yharnam, Cathedral Ward, Upper Cathedral Ward, and Old Yharnam. To rework the textures, the modder used AI tools. So, basically, he upscaled the original textures by two times.
You can download this HD texture pack from this link. To install it, you need to copy the maps folder from this mod directly into your Bloodborne game folder. And that's it. When you load the game via shadPS4, you will immediately get the new textures.
To showcase the new textures, fromsoftserve has released the screenshots and videos below, so be sure to check them out as they can give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from it.
Speaking of shadPS4, I'm excited about its overall progress. It seems like the developers are dealing with Bloodborne-related issues every day. Just yesterday, the team released a new version that fixes the game's reflections and shadows. While the emulation isn't perfect yet, it's miles better than it was a week ago. And then fromsoftserve went a step further and added dynamic shadow casting for everything.
We are getting closer and closer to the playable version of Bloodborne on PC. In fact, some of you may be able to play the game in its current state. Yes, there are still a lot of visual issues. But check out the videos below. The game already looks and runs great on shadPS4, so I'm sure we'll have a fully playable version of it by the end of 2024.
On a related note, the team behind RPCSX is also gearing up for a big announcement. For those who don't know, the folks at RPCSX are the ones behind the best PS3 emulator, RPCS3. So I'm excited to see if RPCSX can match shadPS4.
Have fun and stay tuned for more!
