It looks like Square Enix will soon announce the release date of Final Fantasy XVI for PC, as NVIDIA already has a game-ready driver for it.
Today NVIDIA released the GeForce 560.81 driver. And if you take a look at the game profiles, you'll find ones for Final Fantasy XVI and Once Human.
I expect Square Enix to announce the PC release date for FFXVI at Gamescom 2024. This makes total sense and is what I've been expecting since the day SE announced the game for PC.
Since NVIDIA has added a game profile for the game, we may also get some new PC-exclusive features. Final Fantasy XVI was a great looking game on the PS5. However, the game would definitely benefit from ray tracing.
Unfortunately, there's nothing more to say. However, Square Enix hasn't forgotten about PC gamers, and FF XVI is just around the corner. As for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you can expect it to come to PC in 2025. Square Enix isn't THAT stupid to cannibalize Final Fantasy XVI's PC sales.
Just for fun, I'll say that FFXVI for PC will be released in September/October and FF 7 Rebirth in January/February 2025. Please note that I have no inside information. This is pure speculation. Still, I'm curious to see if I'm right or not.
Stay tuned for more!
