After the end of its broadcast on television, Fear the walking dead will soon be released in a new Blu-ray set containing all the episodes of the series. The bundle will be released in October, just in time for Halloween this year.
According to Lionsgate, Fear the Walking Dead: The Complete Collection will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on October 15, 2024. The set has a suggested retail price of $119.99 for the Blu-ray and Digital set, while the DVD is a bit cheaper at $94.98. The show concluded its eight-season run on AMC in November 2023, currently serving as the longest-running The Walking Dead spin-off so far. Fear the walking dead It first premiered on AMC in 2015, still early in the run-up to the parent series.
The series returned to the beginning of the apocalypse, starting shortly after the outbreak that changed the world. This was in contrast to the original series, which picked up weeks after the apocalypse when Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) awoke from a coma to see how drastically life had changed forever. Fear the walking dead moved the story from Georgia to locations in California and Mexico, allowing fans to see how other areas of the world had been affected.
A strong ensemble cast included some crossover characters
While the spinoff began by following an entirely new cast of characters, there would be a few crossovers as the show continued. The most notable is Morgan Jones (Lennie James) jumping from the original series to become a major character in the spinoff. Austin Amelio, who played Dwight in the original show, is also among the crossover characters. Other cast members of Fear the walking dead include Kim Dickens (Dead wood, House of Cards), Blades of Ruben (Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Stone Hands), Colman Domingo (Euphoria, The color purple), and Danay Garcia (CSI: New York, Hawaii Five-O).
The official synopsis for the spin-off series reads: “Fear the walking dead is a post-apocalyptic horror-drama series set in the universe of The walking dead. It begins in Los Angeles with Madison Clark and her children, Nick and Alicia, in the early days of a zombie apocalypse. As society collapses, they encounter various threats from walkers and other survivors and, in season four, collide with the world of The Walking Dead when Morgan Jones joins the story. Over the course of eight seasons, the group, which includes the likes of Victor Strand and Daniel Salazar, travels across California, Mexico and Texas, facing enemies far more sinister than the undead, as they work to rebuild a sense of hope and community in a devastated world.”
