In horror films, the slasher subgenre has become much less important than it was decades ago. This one saw an old bastion sleep in the crystal lakes, but the nightmare has left Elm Street and awakened in another brand. THE Terrifying It is the newest slasher genre around, with its third film scheduled for release around Christmas time.
Terrifying 3 is the next installment in the series, which has been a huge success thanks to its gruesome and bloody violence. Set during the Christmas season, this new film is actually the fourth installment in the franchise, if you count it as another film. Of course, this may not be the end for Art the Clown and his terrifying antics, especially if this film is as successful as the previous ones.

Despite the name, the Terrifying the series theoretically started in 2013 All Saints' Eve. This film was directed by Damien Leone and functioned as an anthology of short films (one of which was titled Terrifying) all involving the series' dark antagonist, Art the Clown. The character's design and presence evoked a mute version of Pennywise the Clown from It. The story really began, however, in the first theatrical performance Terrifying feature film released in 2016.
In this film, Art the Clown terrorizes two sisters, Victoria and Tara, on Halloween night, and unleashes a brutal chase after their encounter with the diabolical villain. The film ended with Victoria brutally scarred by her actions and Art dead, but that didn't stop him from being reborn in the 2022 sequel, Terrifying 2. Resurrected by the “Little Pale Girl”, Art the Clown once again wreaked havoc on Miles County, New York. This time, his nemesis was a young woman named Sienna Shaw.

It turns out that Shaw is supposed to be the true “final girl” of the series and that she will eventually defeat Art, although her evilness isn't kept in check for long. Victoria from the first film is revealed to be alive and gives birth to a new body (or rather, a living head) for Art. This is where the film series left off, but the new entry is set to finally continue things with another, completely different party. Terrifying The films were very successful, especially the second one.
The initial film was made on a budget of between US$35,000 and US$55,000 and grossed over US$400,000 at the box office. Terrifying 2 was an even bigger success, even after upping the ante with a $250,000 budget. Earning just over $15 million USD, it showcased the kind of indie success that was once common with slasher horror film franchises. Now, it’s likely to happen again, with Art the Clown ensuring the “slay” bells ring.

The plot in the 3rd main chapter Terrifying The film will once again feature Art the Clown as the antagonist, and another face will also return to the film. As seen in the movie poster, Victoria Heyes from the first film is back, her face still brutally damaged from her first encounter with Art. Most likely, the movie will also be based on the child she had, or rather, the head of Art she gave birth to. In fact, the Art seen in the movie is most likely a fully grown version of this dark demonic offspring. Terrifying 3The plot this time around will not be about Halloween, but will instead be centered around Christmas. All that is really known so far about the premise is that Art will be terrorizing Miles County like never before, while its citizens “sleep on Christmas Eve.”
The last plot detail recalls the premise of the Nightmare on Elm Street film. These films are more visceral and somewhat “high-concept” in nature, involving teenagers and other Springwood residents going to bed and being terrorized in their nightmares by an evil dream demon, Freddy Krueger. While Art the Clown himself appears to be supernatural in nature, the extent of his powers is unknown. Thus, he may leap even further into this realm in the new film, achieving an unrealized level of power that may be related to his “rebirth” via Victoria.
While Art the Clown appears to have supernatural powers, the full extent of his powers is unknown.
The presence of this former “final girl” is intentional, as is her continued role in the franchise as a whole.Series creator and director Damien Leone expressed regret for not developing Victoria much in the first Terrifying film. This was done mainly because her role was something of a cliffhanger, as it seemed like her sister Tara would be the real star of the film. So, her return and apparent scene-sharing with Art is a way to give more insight into her character.
Victoria's role in the second film was in a mid-credits scene, where she gave birth to Art's head. She also scrawled the words “Vicky + Art” in blood in this scene, suggesting (along with the new film's poster) that she and the villain will now both be evil slasher characters. If so, it's possible that her being butchered by Art at the end of the first film has “infected” her with elements of his evil essence.

The cast of Terrifying 3 It's full of new faces and returning ones and represents the culmination of the plots of the first two films. The main character is Lauren LaVera, who returns as Sienna Shaw. Likewise, Elliot Fullam is back as younger brother Jonathan, who was put in danger by Art in the second film. David Howard Thornton and Samantha Scaffidi are back as Art the Clown and Victoria Heyes, with the film's poster placing them front and center. This comes after a story revision, with Victoria initially set to be killed off in a way the director felt was too similar to the film Malignant from horror icon James Wan. There are many other big names who, while not associated with the franchise, are celebrities in their own right.
Legendary wrestler Chris Jericho will play a nurse named Burke, while Daniel Roebuck, known for various films and roles, including horror-related ones in the iconic Halloween franchise — plays Santa Claus himself. Other big names include Jon Abrahams, Tom Savini, Clint Howard, Annie Lederman and '80s star Jason Patric, who is perhaps best known for starring in the classic film The Lost Boys. The film also stars Krsy Fox, Sienna Hubert-Ross, and Antonella Rose as Gabbie. The film is once again written and directed by Damien Leone, with Phil Falcone, George Steuber, Steve Della Salla, Jason Leavy, and Michael Leav producing.
Terrifier 3 Production News and Potential Sequels
Terrifier 3 could be split into two films, giving rise to a fourth sequel
A third Terrifying The film had been planned before the second film was even released, and this and other sequels were talked about as early as 2019. In 2022, the release of the second film revealed that the treatment for the next sequel was so extensive that it could potentially be split into a fourth film as well. A filming schedule was announced in May 2023, and while it was expected to begin in November and December of that year, it did not. Instead, principal photography took place between February and April 2024, with additional scenes filmed until mid-June.
Entertainment company Cineverse acquired distribution rights in 2023, and its theatrical release will be accompanied by an exclusive streaming distribution on the company’s Screambox platform. Originally scheduled for October 25, 2024, the release has been pushed back two weeks and will now hit theaters on October 11, 2024.Its official premiere, however, will take place in less than a month at Fantastic Fest 2024, which will be held on September 19, 2024.
The film's first trailer was finally released over the summer, giving fans their first look at Art's bloody return. The film's budget is much bigger this time around, coming in at $2 million. However, it's still microscopic compared to many films, and as long as it's as viscerally violent as the first two films, Terrifying 3 It's sure to be a smashing success.
Terrifier 3 will be released in theaters on October 11, 2024.
