A powerful soundtrack, captivating colors and a gripping storyline have come together to create a timeless film in The Lion King. In 1994, Disney introduced audiences to a thrilling new film that has remained a fan favorite for generations to come. The story centers on Simba, a lion cub whose father, King Mufasa, was killed by his brother, Scar. Simba leaves the Pride Lands, believing himself to be the cause of his father's death, only to return to find that Scar has ruined his once home. As the rightful King, it was up to Simba to take back control. The plot is said to be loosely based on William Shakespeare Hamlet: The Lion King II: Simba's Pride was released in 1998, but as a direct-to-video sequel. 2019 brought a revival of the original story in the form of a live-action remake, grossing over $1 billion worldwide. A cast of seasoned performers came together to voice the characters, including Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Seth Rogan, and Billy Eichner. James Earl Jones also reprised his role as Mufasa, which he played in 1994.
Now, the franchise is returning once again with Mufasa: The Lion Kingand it seems to be a worthy addition to the story of the lions that roamed Pride Rock. From the animated version, audiences learned that Scar had a grudge against Mufasa, always wanting to be the ruler. This could not happen while his brother was still around. Mufasa was full of wisdom, courage and a willingness to take care of his family no matter the cost, while Scar had the opposite values. He was selfish and plagued by a desire for power, which put him on the wrong path to destruction. Mufasa's death was probably one of the saddest in Disney history, especially since it was caused by his own brother. Aside from greed and jealousy, Scar's motivations were not given much explanation. The Lion King hasn't provided many details about Mufasa's past, but the next film is set to clarify his origins.

Did Scar eat Mufasa in The Lion King?!
The Lion King has many fun nods to fun facts that pepper its story. But one theory adds a darker truth to an already dark tale.
After a teaser trailer was released in June, a full trailer has now been released for Mufasa: The Lion King. Told in flashback, Rafiki explains to Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, the story of how Mufasa found his way to royal lineage after being lost as a cub. He meets another cub named Taka, who viewers would come to know as Scar. Mufasa was welcomed into Taka's family and the two grew up as brothers, with an adventurous life ahead of them, not without its challenges. Presumably, viewers will also come to understand why Taka became known as Scar. While the narrative details Mufasa's past, the characters who have become an important part of The Lion King will make appearances. In the trailer, Timon and Pumbaa are shown to be very present, making their usual comedic personalities known. It seems that the creators paid attention to what fans know and love about the previous films, choosing not to ignore what made them successful.
The scenery looks more breathtaking than ever, setting the scene for the circle of life that runs deep throughout the franchise. The live-action creation adds to the depiction of the African plains, showing clear images of the wildlife that inhabits the land. Barry Jenkins directs the filmand seems to have kept his film in line with Jon Favreau's 2019 remake, which featured a photorealistic style. While the animation was beautifully done and perfect for young viewers, the live-action makes the film a bit more believable. It's easier to get lost in the imaginary world and trust the storyline. The live-action is impressive to watch, coming as close as you can get to seeing real animals. Jenkins has four other directing credits to his name. Between 2008 and 2018, Jenkins directed Medicine for Melancholy, High Enough, Moonlight AND If the street could talk. With an established creative at the helm of this highly anticipated project, it is almost certain to be a triumph.
