Elden Ring Title Update 1.14 Released, Full Patch Notes

FromSoftware has just released Title Update 1.14 for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. As the team noted, this update brings bug fixes and balance adjustments, as well as changes to the expansion's final battle, so let's take a closer look.

Patch 1.14 fixes a bug where the hitboxes of some of Rellana, Twin Moon Knight's attacks were different than intended. It also fixes a bug that prevented the player from receiving runes when killing an enemy while holding a shield. Additionally, the developers have fixed a bug that could cause incorrect player movement when using target lock on some skills.

As I said, Update 1.14 makes some changes to the final battle. As far as I can see, there are no spoilers, so you can safely read these changes without being spoiled. So the patch changes the action pattern when the battle starts. It also reduces the damage of some attacks and increases the visibility of some attack effects.

There are no technical improvements as far as I can see, so don't expect any major performance improvements. The developers haven't even added DLSS or FSR yet. Yes, there is a mod that allows you to enable DLSS, but it would have been cool to get native support for both AMD FSR 3.0 and NVIDIA DLSS 3 with Frame Generation.

The good news is that Elden Ring has some awesome mods that you can use. The first mod that you absolutely must have is the Seamless Co-op Mod. A few days ago, the modding team behind it added support for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion. Then we have this mod that adds a parry system to the game like Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. If you don't want to use the MGRR mod, you can try this one that adds Sekiro-like deflection and dodge mechanics. You can also find an unofficial Survival Mode mod. Also, check out Primeval Balance V3 for new character classes with cool moves. And don't miss the awesome First Person mod. And finally, there's a massive 25GB HD Texture Pack with over 4500 textures if you want to improve the graphics.

Balance adjustments for the final boss

The following adjustments were made to the final boss of “Shadow of the Earth Tree

  • The action pattern for starting battle has been changed.
  • Adjusted some attack moves.
  • The damage of some attacks has been reduced.
  • Reduced stamina damage of some attacks.
  • The attack range of some non-weapon-based attacks has been reduced.
  • The visibility of some attack effects has been improved.

PvP-exclusive balance adjustments

  • Backhand Blades damage against other players has been reduced. (Smithscript Cirque's throwing attacks are unaffected by this change.)
  • Spears' dual-wield attack damage against other players has been reduced.
  • The Pata weapon's damage against other players has been reduced.
  • The Spread Crossbow weapon no longer deals headshot damage when it hits another player.

  • The damage animation value generated by this skill when hitting another player has been reduced.

  • Increased enemy recoil distance.

Midras Flame of Frenzy

  • Increased attack speed.
  • Increased range to build up the Frenzy status against enemies.
  • Reduced Frenzy status buildup when using this skill.

Bayle's Flame Flash

Bug fixes

  • Black Pyreflies items now respawn correctly when resting at a Place of Grace.
  • Fixed a bug where performing a heavy attack with a light greatsword while jumping did not consume stamina.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause unintended weapon skills to be used when the Ballista was equipped in the left hand.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Taylew, the Golemsmith, to have lower than intended critical hit damage when using certain weapons.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the player from receiving runes if an enemy was killed while holding a shield.
  • Fixed a bug where casting the Inescapable Frenzy summon with the Staff of the Great Beyond caused the hitbox to generate incorrectly.
  • Fixed a bug where missed backstabs with the Pata weapon had a smaller fist hitbox than intended.
  • Fixed a bug where some Lizard Greatsword attacks were not registering as strike attacks.
  • Fixed a bug where Euporia could increase the attack power of other weapons when its shine was restored.
