By Edie Falco Nurse Jackie is getting a revival that will see the series return a decade after its initial run ended. Despite the passage of time, Falco explains that now is a good time to bring the show back, as its subject matter is more relevant than ever.
Falco opened up about the show's return in a new interview with Screen Rant. She was asked why now is the best time to Nurse JackieThe return of on Prime Video, and Falco mentioned how mental health issues and the resulting drug use are still a very big threat, no less than they were when the show was previously on the air. Because Nurse Jackie “explored a lot” of that topic, the show may have helped viewers who were struggling with their own struggles, and Falso hopes the revival can similarly inspire others.
“Oh, man, I feel like I should have a more relevant answer to that question. [Chuckles] “I think we are in danger, as a culture,” Falco explained.People are largely unhappy, there are a lot of mental health issues going around right now and drug use is an ever-present topic.. I don't think there's ever a right time to talk about it. It's real, it's dangerous, it's heartbreaking. And I think Nurse Jackie he did a fair amount of exploration of all that stuff, and I hope this is what will continue, at least in part..”

Falco continued: “It's in a lot of people's lives and I think they probably want it, at least from the comments I've heard, they find some comfort in seeing him represented before themto realize that they are not the only ones going through the hell they are going through with regards to opioids and the like.”
THE Nurse Jackie The revival was first announced in 2023, set to be accompanied by a Weeds sequel series on Showtime. In May of this year, it was revealed that the project had moved development to Amazon MGM Studios to stream on Prime Video. Falco will serve as an executive producer in addition to starring in the series.
Nurse Jackie Revival Plot Revealed
The synopsis for the sequel series reads: “10 years after we left Jackie Peyton (Falco) clinging to life in the series finale, we find her back on her feet despite losing her nursing license. The continuation of her story will find her facing new dilemmas as she tries to be good in a world where being bad is often not only easier, but a lot more fun.”
