The highly anticipated Dragon Ball Super The anime series gets its release date and a major production update, befitting original creator Akira Toriyama’s latest involvement in the franchise.
Through Mantan Web, the long-awaited Dragon Ball Super anime series will debut on October 11, 2024, with a special first episode that will last 10 minutes. In particular, it was also revealed that all episodes of Dragon Ball Super have been completed; Toei Animation's localization director Daniel Castañeda had previously speculated that the series would have around 20 episodes.
Dragon Ball Super will also be part of Fuji TV's brand new domestic anime slot every Friday at 23:40 JST. The announcement was made at the company's headquarters in Tokyo, with programming director Yuichi Nakajima stating, “All episodes of Dragon Ball Super are done. Since it is a new work, we want it to be watched by a national network. So far, it has also been shown on Sunday mornings, but Sunday mornings are not a national network. We are also aiming for a time slot that Dragon Ball Fans and target audience can watch it easily.”
Nakajima added, “I hope we can spread the image: 'After all, on Fuji TV it's an anime.'” The decision to have Daima kickstarting its new domestic anime time slot showcases Fuji TV's optimism for the series, which marked Akira Toriyama's last involvement in a Dragon Ball anime series after his passing earlier this year. He was in charge of the series' story and character design, joining fellow Dragon Ball Super staff like series directors Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki.
