Dark Souls 3 will soon get a mod that reworks its lighting

Modder “Trivia Vanille” is currently working on a graphics mod for Dark Souls 3 that will redesign the lighting. This mod is based on the upcoming DS3 LightingEngine mod. Below you can find some screenshots of it.

In case you didn't know, Ganaboy is working on a version of his Dark Souls 2 Lighting Engine mod for Dark Souls 3. This mod is supposed to significantly improve the game's lighting. I'm guessing he'll also add support for NVIDIA's DLSS and DLAA. After all, DS2LE already supports them.

In these screenshots, Vanille showcased some new graphic effects that will be available for DS3. PC players can now enjoy newly generated cubemaps, SSR, SSS and GTAO.

At the end of the article you will find some before and after comparison screenshots. These will give you a better idea of the graphical improvements this mod brings. The screenshots from the original game are on the left, the modified screenshots are on the right, so be sure to check them out.

One of the big differences is the color palette. The modified version of Dark Souls 3 looks richer and more vibrant. It also feels more natural. For example, the artificial light behind the main character has been removed. However, I can also see some artistic differences between them. So for some, it will be a kind of mixed picture.

I know some DS3 purists won't like these changes. However, you should keep in mind that this is just a mod, so in my opinion it's good to give the game an alternative look. And hey, if you don't like it, you're not forced to use it. You can just skip it. That's the beauty of mods.

For anyone interested, there are currently no estimated release dates for the mod. I will of course keep you updated.

Speaking of Dark Souls 3, we also recommend you check out these other mods for it. For example, you can download Call Of the Abyss, which adds new weapons, spells, items, and armor. Then we have The Convergence, which adds over 150 spells, new bosses, and dozens of weapons. On top of that, Dark Souls 3 Born From the Ashes is designed to make the game even more difficult. Let's also not forget Dark Souls: Archthrones. Dark Souls: Archthrones is a mod inspired by Demon's Souls, and there's a demo you can download. For those looking for a less demanding experience, there's now an Easy Mod you can download.

Now if you want to improve the graphics of the game, you can try the following mods. There is a 24GB HD texture pack that improves the quality of all textures. Then there is this cool mod that lets you play Dark Souls 3 in first person mode. And let's also not forget this mod that adds dynamic shadows to almost every object.

Have fun and stay tuned for more!
