Convergence Games Showcase to feature announcements from indie publishers like Secret Mode, Thunderful, and Kepler

There seems to be an endless number of video game trailers these days, each one promising to be full of exciting indie games. Regardless of my feelings about the entertainment value of these streams, I can't deny that I've watched them all or that they've introduced me to games I might otherwise have missed.

The next event on the calendar is the Convegence games showcase on September 26, which promises to be a new event featuring – hey, what a change – exciting indie games. There are some well-known publishers on hand too, including the likes of Secret Mode, Thunderful, and Kepler.

Thunderful is known for its SteamWorld games, Secret Mode has published Still Wakes The Deep and A Little To The Left, and Kepler are the guys behind the recently released Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn and Cat Quest 3, as well as the upcoming Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Other publishers with games in the showcase include Fireshine Games, Yogscast Games, Miju Games, and The Arcade Crew, at least some of which I've heard of.

The show will be hosted by YouTubers and Twitch streamers ESO Danny, Dexbonus, and Wanderbots, if those names mean anything to you. Dexbonus is the only streamer I watch regularly, which makes me feel a little less disconnected than usual.

I find most show streams to be a gray slurry of poorly written trailer intros, and I can't remember most of the games that were introduced until a few minutes after the stream ended. But I will remember one or two games, and when I spoke to a developer about the effectiveness of such streams, they all pointed out spikes in Steam Wishlist numbers after they were included. Which probably means I should put my rain down and just watch the parade.

The Convergence games showcase will be broadcast on September 26 at 12pm PST/8pm BST via YouTube, Twitch, and the usual places. More details on the official site.
