Of Sanrio's characters, Hello Kitty usually gets the most attention. Luckily, another of the brand's adorable mascots is now getting the spotlight in an adorable crossover.
A new series of collectible plush toys will unite the cute Cinnamoroll with Vocaloid singer Hatsune Miku. Featuring the two as a couple and wearing a variety of costumes, the toys showcase just how popular both brands are. Now available in Japanese arcades, the plush set is just one example of the Vocaloid/Sanrio team-up.
Sanrio and Vocaloid Team Up for Cinnamoroll's Cutest Collectible Crossover Yet
Released by Taito, the new Hatsune Miku x Cinnamoroll plush toys offer the best of both worlds for Vocaloid and Sanrio fans. The first wave of these items features a plush version of Hatsune Miku wearing an outfit similar to Cinnamoroll's design, including the blue bow seen on the flying puppy. Cinnamoroll himself and his friend, Milk, are also featured. The second wave of the series sees both Cinnamoroll and Miku dressed in performance costumes, making them resemble idols or band performers. This next wave also features two plush toys of Miku and Cinnamoroll that have them dressed as each other, with Miku in a hoodie with floppy ears while the Sanrio mascot is a carbon copy of the Vocaloid singer, complete with tie and skirt.
Fans in Japan who have a Taito arcade machine nearby can win these items, but international consumers can also get their hands on the collectibles via online crane games. These aren't the only collaborations between the Vocaloid and Sanrio brands, however, or even these two characters in particular. This has manifested itself in fan art and even Nendoroid figures of the Vocaloid character alongside the Sanrio dog. The Hatsune Miku program debuted 17 years ago and was soon joined by many other Vocaloid characters who have since been featured in various manga and other works. One of Sanrio's most popular mascots, Cinamoroll is even older, having first debuted in 2001 and has become Sanrio's most popular character, taking the top spot in the official rankings for five years in a row.
