David Corenswet to Wear James Gunn's Red and Blue Tights Superman film, but the film will have an Easter egg that recognizes a previous fan favorite to play the Man of Steel. The son of actor Christopher Reeve, who starred in four Superman film, makes a special appearance in honor of his late father.
It was previously reported that Will Reeve would have a small role in Superman after the ABC correspondent was spotted on set. While on the red carpet at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night, Variety asked Reeve about his cameo in the film. He confirmed that it was a small part, warning that viewers might miss it if they blinked at the scene, but it was still an “honor” and a “full circle moment” for the young Reeve.
“I promise it's not big, but it was a lot of fun. It was really fast and blink and you'll miss itbut it was a fantastic moment,” Reeve said. “It’s an honor. I think it's a nice full circle moment.. It's great for fans who loved Superman for so many decades, and now that DC is rebooting the Superman franchising, it was a fun honor to be a part of it, and I'm really excited to see what happens with this.”

Christopher Reeve was not the first to play a live-action incarnation of Superman, as he followed George Reeve, although he remains one of the most popular actors to ever play the role. He played Clark Kent in the 1978 film Superman to make his debut as the Man of Steel. Reeve reprised the role for 1980 Superman II1983 years Superman IIIand 1987 Superman IV: The Quest for PeaceThe actor would later make several guest appearances in the prequel series Small Villa as a way to remember the time he played Superman.
Christopher Reeve's Story Explored in New Documentary
Reeve's life as he knew it changed completely in 1995, following a horseback riding accident that left him with a devastating neck injury. He was left paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair, and would spend the rest of his life lobbying for spinal cord injury research in the hopes of helping others. Together with his wife, he launched the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation to promote treatment and care for people with paralysis. This period of Reeve's life is explored in the new documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Storywhich will be screened in theaters on September 21 and 25. James Gunn screened the film on the set of Superman as another way to pay homage to Reeve.
