Chris Evans made his big return as Johnny Storm in the hit film Deadpool and Wolverinerecalling 2005 Fantastic Four film along with its 2007 sequel. With more multiverse-focused films in the works at Marvel Studios, Jessica Alba is hoping to get the chance to return as Sue Storm in the MCU as well.
According to Collider, Alba has spoken about Evans' return as the Human Torch in Deadpool and Wolverine. She got her to talk about how her Invisible Woman has since become a “legend” of a character, and it’s a role Alba will always cherish. With that in mind, she’s keeping the door wide open for an MCU return if Marvel ever gives her that call.
“She is something of a legend. It's been about 20 years. It was a long time ago,” Alba explained. “I loved doing the Marvel movies and I'm also a big Disney fan. I'll watch. My kids are fans too, so I would love to be part of that universe anytime.”
Jessica Alba Wants Vanessa Kirby to Have Fun as Sue Storm
The next person to play Sue Storm on the big screen is Vanessa Kirby, who has been cast in the role in the next MCU film Fantastic Four: First Steps. Alba also commented on Kirby’s casting and shared some tips for playing the character of Sue Storm. For her part, Alba remembers her time in the role as one of the brightest of her life, so she just wants Kirby to soak up every minute of it with her journey as Sue Storm.
“The fans are so amazing,” she said. “It was probably one of the best times of my life, going around the world and meeting all the people who just love The Fantastic Four and I love these comics and I can relate to these stories. That, for me, and being able to meet so many different people that you can touch and bring them joy, I would say first and foremost for anyone who has the honor of playing one of these amazing characters. So I would say have fun and enjoy the moment.”
In the 2005 film, Alba and Chris Evans played the Storm brothers, while the film also featured Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards (aka Mister Fantastic) and Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm (aka The Thing). All four would reprise their roles for the 2007 sequel, which was called Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Deadpool and Wolverine is still playing in theaters and is expected to arrive on Disney+ in November.
