Last month we informed you about the release of shadPS4 version 0.3.0. This version of the PS4 emulator included all of the visual improvements the team made for Bloodborne. And it looks like a new version has already been released. Additionally, Bloodborne now runs better than ever on shadPS4. In fact, it's almost on par with the PS4 and PS5 versions.
Here is a video comparison between the PS5 version and the PC version of Bloodborne. The PS5 version is basically the PS4 version, without any PS5 improvements. The PC version, on the other hand, is the game that runs on shadPS4 V0.3.1.
It is important to note that the PC version is the vanilla version. In other words, it doesn't have the HD texture packs we shared last month. So basically the PC version may look a lot better than what is shown here.
As far as I can see, the only thing missing from the PC version is the fog. Once the shadPS4 team manages to fix this issue, the emulated version will be on par with the PS4/PS5 version. That's crazy too. I didn't expect Bloodborne to be fully featured on shadPS4 by the end of 2024. However, here we are in October with a game that is almost entirely emulated.
Additionally, performance still seems great. I still can't believe Bloodborne runs at 60fps on shadPS4. I mean, older PlayStation consoles have major problems with their emulators. But here we have a PS4 emulator that runs silky smooth. It's incredible.
Now I'm sure there might be places where the emulation isn't that great. The biggest problem was the “overblooming lighting” which was fixed. Furthermore, the game can be played from start to finish. Yes, it appears that it is fully playable on PC via shadPS4.
As mentioned earlier, you can also download HD texture packs that can improve the quality of the game's textures. There are two must-have packages at the moment. The first pack reworks numerous textures, while the second pack focuses on armor.
Have fun and stay tuned for more!
