Now there's something incredible for all our AMD Ryzen fans. Microsoft has made all the upcoming AMD Ryzen improvements included in the 24H2 beta available for Windows 11 23H2, so you can now get more performance out of your AMD Ryzen CPUs for free.
But let's start from the beginning. A few days ago, HardwareUnboxed published a video where they tested the AMD Ryzen 9700X and 7700X in over 40 games. For these benchmarks, HU tested the latest Windows 11 version with the 24H2 beta. And as they found out, the 24H2 update can increase performance by an average of 10% on both Zen 4 and Zen 5 CPUs.
The crazy thing is that some games can see pretty incredible performance improvements. Gears 5, for example, was able to see a 35% performance increase. Fortnite DX11 was able to see a 30% performance increase. Even Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a game that can be CPU-bound, was able to see a 22% performance increase. And that's just with a new update. These improvements are not due to using a faster memory module or overclocking the CPU. That's crazy.
Microsoft originally planned to include these AMD Ryzen performance improvements in the 24H2 update, but the team has also made them available in the 23H2 update, which is the update most of you already have.
So all you have to do is look for KB5041587 under Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates. Once you find it, you can install it. And that's it.
Please note that this is ONLY available on Windows 11. As far as we know, Microsoft has no plans to include it on Windows 10. That's a shame, but hey, it is what it is.
Like I said, this is a free performance boost. I really can't believe what's going on here. Still, it's something that will put a smile on the face of all AMD Ryzen fans.
Lastly, I recommend watching the HU video. This video contains over 40 benchmarks between Win11 23H2 (before it got the performance boost) and Win 11 24H2.
Have fun and stay tuned for more!
