10 X-Men Who Need Their Own From The Ashes Comics

At the start of 2024, Marvel fans witnessed the Fall of X event, closing out the Krakoa era that had started with House of X and Powers of X in 2018. With Krakoa dismantled, the X-Men franchise has been left to recover with the initiative of From The Ashes.

Focusing on a wide variety of titles—such as team books like Uncanny X-Men, Exceptional X-Men, and X-Factor and solo series such as Mystique, Laura Kinney: Wolverine, and Dazzler—From The Ashes has left plenty of room for various X-Men characters to shine, with fans wondering who could be next for a solo series announcement.

Hellfire Gala 2023 #1 was an incredibly important issue in X-Men history, kicking off the Fall of X era, splitting into multiple miniseries, and bringing many new characters into play— including the Daredevil villain, Typhoid Mary. Created by Ann Nocenti and John Romita Jr. back in 1988, Typhoid has climbed to the ranks of fan-favorite due to her unique personal issues, various miniseries and crossovers, and special powers— later retconned into a Mutation— having her stand apart from many of Marvel’s rogues.

After marrying Kingpin in Chip Zdarsky’s run on Daredevil, Mary had a higher social standing than ever before— even snatching up a Hellfire Gala invitation due to her status and mutant identity. Afterward, Mary joined forces with other mutants to lead the Realm of X title and officially landed a spot in the X-Men franchise. These developments only make fans crave a Typhoid series, especially with the recent introduction of Marvel’s Red Band line. This imprint would let Mary get the gritty stories she deserves.

9 Banshee’s A Classic Hero Who’s Never Had A Solo

Sean Cassidy, A.K.A. Banshee, is a classic member of the X-Men lineup, originally joining in the iconic Giant-Size X-Men #1 by Len Wein, Dave Cockrum, and many other iconic artists and writers. The creative utilization of sonic screams as a flight method was innovative and made Banshee stick out as a unique mutant after first appearing as a mind-controlled villain.

Despite his iconic status, storied history as an X-Man, and unique power, Banshee has never had a series or one-shot of his own— something every other member of the X-Men introduced in Giant-Size #1 has had at one point. With an interesting past in Ireland that has rarely been explored, it would be incredibly interesting to dive deep into the Cassidy clan and Sean’s nemesis, Black Tom, in a solo series.

An X-Men Icon is Marvel’s Worst Vampire Hunter

A former vampire hero and X-Men icon steps into the fray of Marvel’s Blood Hunt — and she is doing everything she can to avoid fighting.

Earlier this year, X-Men fans were introduced to Gail Simone and David Marquez’s Uncanny X-Men, a Rogue and Gambit-led off-shoot of the main team. Alongside the trinity of Rogue, Gambit, and Nightcrawler was Jubilee, a character fans of the show X-Men ‘97 have become closely acquainted with.

Introduced in the ’90s as one of the most immature X-Men to date, Jubilee quickly became popular, her fun-loving personality and wacky adventures gripping fans. Her most notable and recent adventure was her brief tenure with Boom Boom, Dazzler, and Laura Kinney in the short-lived but beloved X-Terminators. Fans have been clamoring for more of Jubilee ever since the series wrapped, with the From The Ashes initiative being the perfect opportunity to give her more lighthearted and hilarious adventures in the same vein as X-Terminators.

7 Bishop Can Return Fans To The Dark Future

With Rachel Summers stuck in the present and Cable M.I.A., one can only wonder how we’ll see the “bad future” represented.

Ever since the iconic “Days of Future Past” storyline, the prospect of a “bad future” for the X-Men and other Mutants has been looming overhead. Parts of the Krakoan age show us what could lead to that becoming real. Lucas Bishop is one of the leading figures in the alternate timelines and has become an X-Men staple in his own right.

Rachel Summers, Cable, and Bishop are the typical trio of future dwellers who have traveled to the present time. However, with Rachel and Cable both preoccupied with their own endeavors, Bishop has been left in the air. A Bishop solo series could explore the dark future, time-hopping, or even his unclear past—potentially even confirming the long-standing theory that he’s a descendant of Storm.

10 Best-Written X-Men Villains, Ranked

The X-Men are some of Marvel’s most popular heroes, though they would be nothing without well-crafted villains like Magneto, Apocalypse, and Mystique.

When the From The Ashes relaunch of X-Men— helmed by overnight sensation Jed Mackay as writer and Venom alumni Ryan Stegman on art— was announced this year, one of its biggest reveals to fans was the new role of Magneto. Taking the place of Professor X as Headmaster of the X-Men, fans wondered if Erik Lensherr’s new occupation would get explored in depth— especially considering that many previous initiatives included a Magneto solo series.

In a Post-Krakoa Marvel universe, it’s extremely valuable for readers to witness the perspective of one of its higher-ups, and even more valuable with the potential of any possible real-world parallels being explored. Magneto’s ideology and backstory are equally troubled, nuanced, and deeply expansive, to the point that exploring it in a PG-13 ensemble book like X-Men is a rather difficult task, which is why it deserves its own solo series worth of exploration— perhaps even as part of the new Marvel Red Band imprint.

Created by writer Chris Claremont and storyteller/artist John Byrne—who was particularly passionate about the team, as he wanted to see more superheroes from his homeland—in The X-Men #120, Alpha Flight has found itself with the unique title of the premier superhero team of Canada. The nation’s main protectors featuring a line-up filled with mutants is notable, showing a potential cultural difference.

In 1983, Alpha Flight #1 was released, kicking off a long-standing tradition of consistent solo titles that ran for almost 16 solid years of publication. The unique perspective given to readers via a mutant team of another nation— and the perspective we get from Alpha Flight veteran and the first gay superhero in Marvel Comics, Northstar— could be extremely valuable, especially now that Krakoa has crumbled.

X-Men: 15 Alpha-Level Mutants Who Are Deceptively Powerful

Although these Alpha-level Mutants technically aren’t the strongest in the X-Men comics, they shouldn’t be underestimated.

During the Krakoan age of X-Men, a group of mutants known as The Five was tasked with resurrecting mutants lost in battle, with Tempus as a key figure of the team. Eva Bell’s specific power of time-shifting came in handy as part of this team, using it to rapidly age the newly reborn mutants to the age they were at death.

Now that Krakoa has ended, one has to wonder what Eva Bell would be doing now that she’s no longer part of The Five. Due to the nature of her abilities, a time-hopping adventure could make for a very interesting solo series, especially one exploring the husband and child she lost in the time stream— and things could be made even more interesting if she teamed up with Havok, searching for his and Wasp’s daughter that Kang stole.

Over the many years X-Men has been running, the matter of Magneto’s children has been a constant topic of discussion, with lots of back and forth about whether or not he’s the father of some of them. There’s Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, who are, as of now, not his children, and Lorna Dane, A.K.A. Polaris, whom Marvel has officially decided is actually Magneto’s daughter.

Magneto has recently taken over Charles Xavier’s role as headmaster of the X-Men, making one wonder what his children are doing— especially Lorna, who has been seemingly absent since the Fall of X event, unlike her former siblings. With her father’s shift to good and the recent reformation of X-Factor, a governmental organization Lorna was once closely acquainted with— but is shockingly missing from the current roster of— it’s the perfect time to bring Polaris back.

Krakoa Proved That Nightcrawler Is One Of The Best Members of the X-Men

The Krakoa Era has highlighted why Nightcrawler is one of the best X-Men — and how well he fits into the spotlight in the franchise.

The “Fall of X” event introduced a brand new Spider-Man title: Uncanny Spider-Man. This title had nothing to do with Spider-Man at all and was instead a book starring X-Men veteran Nightcrawler. Having moved to New York and assumed the identity of Spinnen-Man to hide his mutant identity, readers saw Kurt Wagner flourish while helping the average person.

One thing Uncanny Spider-Man left readers wanting more of was Nightcrawler helping the helpless, mutant or not, with his strong sense of faith guiding him. Nightcrawler has recently joined Rogue’s X-Men team, co-starring in Gail Simone’s Uncanny X-Men. However, fans are still clamoring to see Wagner shine alone— especially if we saw his adventures in his home nation of Bavaria.

David Haller, A.K.A. Legion, is the son of Charles Xavier and an international ambassador. He’s also one of the most powerful mutants to ever live. David had suffered mass trauma as a child, developing Dissociative Identity Disorder to cope, leaving his multiple psionic powers controlled by one alter at a time.

During the reign of Orchis in opposition to Krakoa, Legion was captured and experimented on, eventually breaking free to perform a ritual with Scarlet Witch and Proteus that would bring back victims of the Hellfire Gala massacre. A point of contention against David’s heroism has always been his hatred of his father, who is now imprisoned. This leaves David room to breathe and finally shift to good completely, which could be done perfectly in a solo series that explored one of the most powerful omega-level mutants ever.
